  • Publication number: 20020129739
Abstract: A near-infrared reflecting composite pigment comprises a near-infrared non-absorbing colorant and a white pigment coated with the near-infrared non-absorbing pigment. The near-infrared reflecting composite pigment can be produced by mixing a colorant dispersion, in which the near-infrared non-absorbing colorant is dispersed in a liquid medium, with the white pigment in a form selected from powder or a dispersion and then drying the resultant mixture. A near-infrared reflecting coating agent comprises as a coloring agent the near-infrared reflecting composite pigment. A near-infrared reflecting material comprises a base material coated on a surface thereof with the near-infrared reflecting coating agent.

  • Patent number: 5905101
Abstract: The invention relates to an ablator composition for providing ablation protection after cure thereof. The. ablator composition includes the components of: (A) 100 parts by weight of a silicone elastomer composition which is curable to a silicone elastomer by addition reaction; (B) 50-200 parts by weight of an amorphous silica having an average diameter from 0.1 to 100 .mu.m; and (C) 1-15 parts by weight of a first fiber having an average length from 0.5 to 6 mm in a longitudinal direction thereof and an average diameter from 1 to 20 .mu.m. The first fiber is at least one of a carbon fiber and a synthetic quartz fiber. An ablating material prepared by curing the ablator composition is superior in heat insulation and substantially low in ablation rate, and thus protects a spacecraft or the like from a high temperature gas, for a long time.

  • Patent number: 4424085
Abstract: The burning rate of a composite solid propellant comprising ammonium perchlorate and a fuel binder such as polysulfide, polyurethane or polybutadiene can remarkably be increased by the addition of a small amount of FeOOH. Considering the mechanical properties of the propellant, the maximum amount of FeOOH is preferably limited to 7 Wt % of the toatal of the fuel binder and ammonium perchlorate. It is possible to jointly use FeOOH and Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 on condition that the weight ratio of FeOOH to Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 is at least 10:90 and that the total weight of FeOOH and Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3 is in the range from 0.9 to 7% of the total weight of the fuel binder and ammonium perchlorate.

  • Patent number: 4369710
Abstract: An end-burning grain of a solid gas-generating composition which may be a propellant for use in rocket motors, in which an elongate metal heat conductor is embedded to increase mass burning rate by the effect of heat transferred from the hot combustion gas to the unburned gas-generating composition through the heat conductor. The improvement resides in that the heat conductor is constituted of a plurality of relatively thin wires which are loosely twisted together. This heat conductor can produce greater extent of increase in the burning rate and has a mechanical strength sufficient for embedding in a practical grain.
