  • Patent number: 5550651
Abstract: Two line sensors for reading an original are arranged parallel to each other and are moved in a subscanning direction to read an original image. The leading line sensor reads one line on the original, and an output from the leading line sensor is held in analog memories. One line on the original is then read by the trailing line sensor, and an output from the trailing line sensor is added to the output, from the leading line sensor, held in the analog memories, thereby obtaining an effect equivalent to doubled charge storage time in reading one line on the original. A desired resolution can be selected in accordance with the sizes of two sensor elements, the layout of the sensors, and the output timings of the analog memories.

  • Patent number: 5544234
Abstract: Disclosed is a facsimile apparatus equipped with an automatic answering telephone function, as well as a communication method in this apparatus. When a tone signal from a line is detected after the start of storage of a voice message in response to an incoming call, the voice message presently being recorded is not counted as a received message and a voice message received next is stored in the area in which storage has just been performed. Further, when a DTMF signal, which is a control signal of the automatic answering telephone, is detected, a transition is made to facsimile communication in response to a CNG signal. Thus, erroneous operation in facsimile communication due to a CNG signal recorded in the automatic answering telephone is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5526420
Abstract: There is disclosed a control circuit for switching between a facsimile unit and an automatic answering telephone unit. A current detecting circuit with satisfactory linearity between the mutually insulated input and output sides is used for detecting a DC current on a communication line, indicating a communication state of the telephone unit and also for detecting an AC signal, representing a speech communication signal and used for recording an incoming message in the automatic answering telephone unit. This structure allows to insulate the recording circuit and the facsimile circuit from the communication line without a transformer, thereby reducing cost and dimension of the apparatus.
