Abstract: An electronic pasting method for pasting electronic data in consideration of printed and written data, including updating pasted data when electronic data is updated after it is pasted. The electronic pasting method uses a detecting unit and a paste information updating unit. The detecting unit detects a paste stroke made over two print sheets filled to denote a user's pasting action with which part or whole of a printed matter of electronic document information is pasted on printed matter, then detects the pasting action from a set of paste strokes, thereby obtaining a paste-from document, a paste-to document, and a paste position according to the pasting action detected by the detecting unit. The paste information updating unit updates the e-document, the printed matter information, and the written information according to the above paste information.

The apparatus comprises an image capturing unit for electronically capturing paper images by a photo-sensor; an image editing unit for editing such as clipping of partial image or scaling; a user interface unit for receiving user's commands regarding the image editing; an image memory unit for storing; and an image display unit for displaying the images in the image memory unit. An image displaying function is provided on a transparent plane. Photo-sensors are on the plane, and image capturing unit and image display unit are integrated to form an image capturing and display unit. A user gains an operability compatible with human instinct, ignoring a difference between paper and electronic medium.

An index data creation unit in an information terminal creates index information for a page to display from the electronic document, and records it along with time information in an index database. When a time is specified, the index data search unit searches the index database for index information recorded near that time, and identifies the page position of that electronic document from the searched index information. A data display unit displays the beginning of the electronic document at the identified position. The information terminal is capable of managing information by linking electronic data from handwritten information written on paper with a digital pen, with the display page the electronic document by utilizing a stroke set database and a pen data processor.

Abstract: An information management system comprises a coordinate acquiring device for specifying a position on a paper sheet and a content server for storing data. The content server stores document data, event data, and stroke information. When the coordinate acquiring device specifies the position of the stoke information on the paper sheet concerning the document data, the content server retrieves event data relevant to the stroke information corresponding to the specified position, judges whether or not the user who has specified the position of the stroke information can read the retrieved event data, and transmits the event data if the user is judged to be able to read the event data.

Pixels each having a read function are each provided with a light transmitting area, and the thin film light sensing diodes and the TFTs are each formed using a substantially transparent material, so that the device itself is transparent. Therefore, a user can directly see the contents of a printed matter while the area sensor is placed on the printed matter. Further, an image can be read by, for example, designating the image required for the user from above the device. Consequently, it is possible to decrease the power consumption of the device.

Abstract: A digital pen-based application form filling system with a modification prevention function, which eliminates a possibility that digital information initially written in digital paper using a digital pen may be modified deliberately or accidentally. The system prints a new fine pattern over areas in already written digital paper whose contents one wishes to protect against being modified. This printing adds a fine pattern to an original dot pattern already present on the digital paper to make it theoretically impossible to enter information into these areas using the digital pen.
