  • Patent number: 8260560
Abstract: A fuel property determining apparatus may comprise a first sensor and second sensor. The first sensor may detect a concentration of an alcohol contained in fuel. The second sensor may detect a vapor pressure of the target fuel. The fuel property determining apparatus may further comprise a memory and a processor. The memory may store first data for determining a “heavy/light gravity—vapor pressure” relationship based on the concentration of the alcohol. The processor may determine the fuel property of the target fuel based on the first data stored in the memory, the alcohol concentration detected by the first sensor, and the vapor pressure detected by the second sensor.

  • Publication number: 20080223450
Abstract: A flow control valve includes a seal member disposed within an annular space. The annular space is defined between at least one of bearing fitting portions of a flow path defining member and a corresponding valve shaft portion of a valve member opposing to each other in a radial direction with respect to an axis of the valve shaft portion and between an end face of a corresponding bearing and an end face of a valve body portion opposing to each other in a direction of the axis. The seal member can seal between the bearing fitting portion and the corresponding valve shaft portion with respect to the radial direction and can also seal between the corresponding bearing and the valve body portion with respect to the axial direction.

  • Patent number: 7128038
Abstract: An intake device for an internal combustion engine includes a throttle body (1) that forms an intake passage (1a). A throttle valve (2) is arranged within the intake passage. A pipe member (26) is connected to the throttle body, wherein the pipe member forms a communication passage (26a) communicating with the intake passage. An engagement device (53,63; 85,87; 92,63) is provided between the throttle body and the pipe member. The engagement device includes at least one engagement protrusion (53; 85; 92) and at least one engagement recess (63; 87M). When the engagement protrusion and the engagement recess are engaged with each other, detachment of the throttle body and the pipe member from each other is restricted. The assembly process is simplified by a lack of separate components such as clamps and bolts, relying instead upon a typical snap-fit connection.

  • Patent number: 7047936
Abstract: A throttle body comprising a main body defining a cylindrical intake air channel and including a valve member movable between an open and a fully closed position. The valve seal surface and a contact surface are configured such that the valve seal surface sealingly contacts with the corresponding contact surface when a fully closed position of the valve has been displaced due to contraction of one of the main body and the valve member. The valve seal surface and the contact surface of the valve member in the fully closed position are inclined by an angle. The contact angle of inclination gradually decreases from a first point located on a circumference of the periphery of the valve member resulting from a line perpendicular to an intersection of the central axis and the rotation axis to a second point that is proximate to the rotation axis of the valve member.

  • Patent number: 6955335
Abstract: A throttle device includes a throttle body (1) and a cover (18) adapted to be mounted to the throttle body. A coupling device (13, 15; 51, 53) includes a first engaging portion (15; 51) disposed on one of the throttle body and the cover and a second engaging portion (13; 53) disposed on the other of the throttle body and the cover. The first and second engaging portions are engageable with each other when the throttle body and the cover is moved toward each other in a first direction, so that the throttle body and the cover are prevented from moving away from each other in a second direction opposite to the first direction. Means (1d; 1e: 53b) is provided for preventing accidental or unauthorized intentional access to the first or second engaging portions in order to disengage the first and second engaging portions.

  • Patent number: 6892698
Abstract: A throttle control device includes a throttle body (1). In the throttle body, an intake passage (1a), a first space (24a), and a second space (44) are formed. In the intake passage, a throttle valve (2) is rotatably arranged. The throttle valve is rotated by a motor (4). The motor is accommodated in the first space. The second space communicates with the first space. In addition, the second space is adjacent to the intake passage through the intermediation of a wall portion (20a). This makes it possible for the heat generated in the motor to be effectively dissipated from the first space into the intake passage via the second space and the wall portion.
