  • Patent number: 4307195
Abstract: An immobilized enzyme membrane for use at the working face of an electrochemical electrode is prepared which comprises an asymmetrical membrane integrally formed from a skin layer substantially incapable of permeating an enzyme therethrough but capable of permeating a gas and a liquid, and a sponge layer having pores containing an enzyme immobilized therein by crosslinking and which pores intercommunicate with one another throughout the sponge layer and provide sufficient porosity for retaining a necessary amount of the enzyme. The immobilized enzyme membrane contains a large amount of enzyme, has good diffusion and permeability, and has stabilized enzyme activity for a prolonged period of time. Additionally, there is obtained a quick response time and good analytical precision when the immobilized enzyme membrane is used at the working face of an electrode of electrochemical measuring instruments.

  • Patent number: 4278786
Abstract: A heat-resistant polyamide polymer having melt-moldability is obtained by reacting an aromatic diamine having the general formula: ##STR1## with an equivalent amount of aromatic dicarboxylic acid dihalide in an organic solvent in the presence of an aqueous solution of an alkali-metal hydroxide. When an equimolar mixture of terephthalic acid dihalide and isophthalic dihalide is reacted with the diamine, polyamide polymers with good melt-moldability are obtained.

  • Patent number: 4041108
Abstract: A process for producing a high impact thermoplastic resin by graft polymerization of an acrylic rubber and a polymerizable vinyl monomer which comprises agglomerating acrylic rubber particles by stirring a mixture of the acrylic rubber latex and the polymerizable vinyl monomer in the presence of a coagulating agent, the particle size of the acrylic rubber particle agglomerate being adjusted to a range of 0.2 to 10 .mu., initiating graft polymerization in the presence of a free radical initiator, adding a surface active agent during the polymerization, continuing the polymerization until demulsification occurs while the particle size of the agglomerate of the acrylic rubber particles and grafted acrylic rubber particles is adjusted to a range of 0.2 to 10 .mu., and then completing the graft polymerization by suspension polymerization method. The process can give a vinyl graft copolymer resin having high gloss and excellent weather resistance without impairing its impact resistance.

  • Patent number: 3957916
Abstract: A process for preparing a thermoplastic resin composition comprises subjecting a cross-linked rubber obtained by copolymerization of an acrylic ester represented by the general formula CH.sub.2 = CHCOOR, wherein R is an alkyl group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms, and a cross-linking agent to graft polymerization with a polymerizable vinyl or vinylidene monomer in the presence of polyvinyl chloride resin particles through radical polymerization. The present disclosure also relates to a process for preparing a mixed composition comprising the thermoplastic resin composition prepared above and a powder of polyvinyl chloride resin. The thermoplastic resin composition has good weather-resistance properties and good mechanical properties. As the thermoplastic resin composition can easily be mixed with a polyvinyl chloride resin, a polyvinyl chloride resin composition having excellent properties is obtained by simple mixing operation.
