  • Patent number: 5962142
Abstract: A small amount of a non-yellowing surface-forming polyurethane material containing a polyether polyol, a hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer, a coloring agent and an organic bismuth catalyst is initially injected into a mold cavity under reduced pressure to form e.g. the surface portion of a polyurethane covering for a steering wheel. An inner-forming polyurethane material is subsequently injected into the cavity under reduced pressure to form an inner portion of the covering.

  • Patent number: 5367045
Abstract: A material for producing a pad cover molding polyurethane, comprsing a polyol, an isocyanate and an urethane reaction retarding catalyst comprising a tertiary amine blocked with an acid such as formic acid, said material containing neither any fluorocarbon nor any chlorofluorocarbon. The polyurethane material according to the present invention is capable of molding a non-foamed or sparsely foamed lacuna-free pad cover although the material contains neither any fluorocarbon nor any chlorofluorocarbon.

  • Patent number: 5300532
Abstract: The present invention relates to integral skin-foam molded articles obtained by reaction-injection molding a polyurethane foam material comprising a polyol component, an isocyanate component, a catalyst, and a blowing agent. Catalysts may be selected from tin and amine compounds. Water has been successfully used as a blowing agent.

  • Patent number: 5179132
Abstract: A pad for an air bag device comprising polyurethane material having elongation ratios of 60% or more at 85.degree. C., and 40% or more at -35.degree. C., respectively. The polyurethane material is obtained through reaction of isocyanate mainly formed of diphenylmethane diisocyanate, polyether type polyol with molecular weight of 3,000-8,000 and the functional group number of 2-2.5, and the diol type cross-linking agent with molecular weight of 110 or less.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4631206
Abstract: An uncured polyurethane coating formed by applying polyurethane paint containing isocyanate prepolymer on a substrate is cured by a method which comprises applying a catalyst (cure accelerator) on the uncured polyurethane coating and subsequently exposing the polyurethane coating to a heating atmosphere of 60.degree. to 100.degree. C. By this method, the reaction of urethanation explosively proceeds and the time for curing the coating can be notably cut because the optimum catalyst for the polyurethane coating can be selected without restriction and the catalyst in a highly concentrated state can be brought into contact with the polyurethane coating.
