  • Patent number: 4985147
Abstract: A liquid separation membrane for pervaporation composed of a polymeric substance having in the main chain a glycosidic skeleton containing cationic groups and/or anionic groups at least some of which form a salt with counter anions and/or counter cations; and a method for pervaporation, which comprises separating a water-organic liquid mixture or an organic liquid-organic liquid mixture by pervaporation using a separation membrane, said membrane being composed of a polymeric substance having in the main chain a glycosidic skeleton containing cationic groups and/or anionic groups at least some of which form a salt with counter anions and/or counter cations and being dried so as to have a water content of not more than 25% by weight.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 14, 1988
Date of Patent: January 15, 1991
Assignee: Agency of Industrial Science and Technology
Inventors: Akira Mochizuki, Yoshio Sato, Hisashi Ogawara, Syuzo Yamashita

  • Patent number: 4385656
Abstract: Mixing (a) a carboxylic acid, (b) a divalent or trivalent metal oxide or hydroxide and (c) a foundry molding sand in the presence of an aqueous solution of (d) a carboxyl-group-containing polymer or (e) water followed by shaping and curing can provide sand molds having sufficiently high green strength without contamination of the working environment. The molding sand composition has excellent processability, which means filling of shapes or molds with the sand can be done with ease. The sand molds manufactured in this way can be disintegrated by a simple procedure. Therefore the molding sand can be used over and over again and does not cause environmental pollution due to disposal of the molding sand.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 24, 1981
Date of Patent: May 31, 1983
