  • Patent number: 5513855
Abstract: A metal laminate gasket of the invention is formed of first and second metal plates laminating together. The first plate includes at least one first hole for receiving therein an engaging projection of an engine part, and a plurality of first engaging portions and first non-engaging portions alternately arranged to each other to define the first hole. The first engaging portions have first curved inner edges for forming a first imaginary hole with a diameter smaller than a diameter of the engaging projection. The second plate includes at least one second hole corresponding to and located above the first hole, and a plurality of second engaging portions and second non-engaging portions alternately arranged to each other to define the second hole. The second engaging portions have second curved inner edges for forming a second imaginary hole with a diameter smaller than the diameter of the engaging projection.

  • Patent number: 5375856
Abstract: A protecting member of the invention is used for a gasket situated between two engine parts. The protecting member includes a spring member situated between the two engine parts and located around bolt. When the bolt is tightened, the spring member abuts against the engine parts and is compressed to provide predetermined pressure to the bolt through the engine parts. Thus, when an outward force applied to the bolt increase, an amount of the outward force exceeding the predetermined pressure, i.e. the tightening pressure, is only applied to the bolt to absorb a part of the outward force. When an inward force applied to the bolt decreases, the predetermined pressure of the spring member acts against the inward force applied to the bolt. Thus, the pressure changes to the gasket is reduced to prevent creep relaxation of sealing means of the gasket.

  • Patent number: 5022662
Abstract: A gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine with at least one fluid hole. The gasket comprises a main body adapted to be installed in the engine and having at least one first hole communicating with the fluid hole of the engine, and a fluid hole regulation device installed in the first hole of the main body. The fluid hole regulation device includes a second hole, and at least one plate made of a shape memory alloy. The plate moves to enlarge the size of the second hole when the water temperature exceeds a predetermined value, and to reduce the size of the second hole when the water temperature drops under a predetermined value.
