  • Patent number: 5012907
Abstract: A transmission comprises transmission shafts connected to right and left wheels, respectively. Each transmission shaft has a side clutch and a side brake. The side clutch includes clutch balls movable radially of the transmission shaft between a clutching position engaged with a first engagement portion of the transmission shaft and a declutching position radially retracted from the transmission shaft. The side brake includes brake balls movable radially of the transmission shaft between a braking position engaged with a second engagement portion of the transmission shaft and a releasing position radially retracted from the transmission shaft. A shifter sleeve is axially movably mounted on each transmission shafts. The shifter sleeve includes a first space for accommodating the clutch balls, a second space for accommodating the brake balls, and a projection for pressing the clutch balls and brake balls.

  • Patent number: 4882897
Abstract: A walking operator type lawn mower comprising a steering handle extending rearwardly thereof, a cutting blade clutch for making and breaking drive transmission to a cutting blade, and a clutch lever pivotable between a clutch engaging position adjacent the steering handle and a declutching position away from the steering handle. A manually operable interlocking member and a control device are provided between the clutch lever and the cutting blade clutch. The control device is constantly urged to a position to disengage the clutch. The interlocking member is switchable between a position to interlock the clutch lever and the control device and a position to release the two components from each other, and is constantly urged to the release position. The cutting blade clutch is engaged only when the interlocking member is maintained in the interlocking position and the clutch lever is moved to the clutch engaging position.

  • Patent number: 4739850
Abstract: An agricultural machine has two power transmission lines, one of which includes a disk type frictional stepless change speed apparatus and the other of which includes a belt transmission apparatus. The disk type frictional stepless change speed apparatus comprises a drive disk formed integrally with a split pulley of the belt transmission apparatus, a driven disk in pressure contact with and receiving power from the drive disk, a driven shaft slidably carrying the driven disk, and stays for supporting the driven shaft, the stays being oscillatable about an axis parallel to the driven shaft to permit the driven disk to be released from pressure contact with the drive disk. The agricultural machine further includes a mechanism for sliding the driven disk to effect speed changing.

  • Patent number: 4660668
Abstract: A self-propelled agricultural machine having a control section disposed laterally of a transmission case to control a drive transmission mechanism. A cover for a transmission device for transmitting engine output to the drive transmission mechanism is disposed laterally outwardly of the control section, and a fuel tank is disposed upwardly of the control section. Accordingly, the cover and the fuel tank protect the control section from contact by crop, shrubs and the like.

  • Patent number: 4119183
Abstract: A clutch comprising a drive rotary member, a driven rotary member engageable with and disengageable from the drive rotary member by being moved relative thereto in the directions of axis of rotation, an annular cam interposed between the drive rotary member and the driven rotary member, and an engaging member manually operably mounted on a case to prevent rotation of the cam. When the engaging member is operated to project toward the driven rotary member through the cam, the driven rotary member is held out of engagement with the drive rotary member reliably.
