  • Patent number: 5983780
Abstract: A compressor includes front and rear cylinder blocks, a drive shaft rotatably supported by the cylinder blocks, a swash plate mounted on the drive shaft, a plurality of cylinder bores defined in the cylinder blocks and located around the drive shaft, and a plurality of pistons respectively disposed in the cylinder bores. The pistons reciprocate by converting rotation of the drive shaft with the swash plate. A plurality of compression chambers are defined in the cylinder bores for compressing the gas supplied to the cylinder bores in accordance with the reciprocating movement of the pistons. Each compression chamber has dead volume defined by a space having a predetermined volume when the associated piston is at top dead center in each cylinder bore. A reference capacity is defined by the capacity when the piston is at a bottom dead center of the cylinder bore that has the smallest dead volume.

  • Patent number: 5704769
Abstract: A compressor includes a housing body and a drive shaft rotatably supported in the housing body. A drive plate is mounted on the drive shaft. Cylinder bores are defined in the housing body. Pistons are operably coupled to the drive plate and are disposed in the cylinder bores. The drive plate converts rotation of the drive shaft to reciprocating movement of the pistons in the cylinder bores. Each piston compresses gas supplied from a suction chamber to the associated cylinder bore and discharges the compressed gas to a discharge chamber. Force to minimize displacement of the drive shaft in the axial direction thereof adjusts in accordance with at least one of pressure in the discharge chamber and a rotation speed of the drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 5694828
Abstract: Disclosed is a compressor designed to facilitate the assembling of the thrust bearing and reduce noise. A swash plate which moves in responsive to the drive shaft is arranged in a crank chamber defined in a pair of cylinder blocks. Ring washers are held between both bosses of the swash plate and seats formed on both cylinder blocks. Wedge-like clearances are formed between the washers and the seats of the cylinder blocks for the effective introduction of the refrigerant gas by the yawing of the swash plate which occurs as the compressor runs. At this time, the washers, together with the lubrication oil mist contained in the refrigerant gas, constitute the dynamic bearing to support the swash plate and permit the relative movement of the swash plate to the cylinder blocks.
