Patent number: 7561378Abstract: A data erasing device that erases data recorded on a magnetic disk, by a magnetic field generated in a horizontal direction by magnets, in order to prevent leakage of the data recorded on the magnetic disk of a magnetic disk device to be abandoned. The data erasing device includes a main body case having a path on which a tray is reciprocated, a demagnetizing circuit having plural permanent magnets adjacently disposed along the path in mutually adsorbing polarities, and a tray for accommodating the magnetic recording medium, and capable of reciprocating on the path. This tray includes a first accommodation groove and a second accommodation groove for accommodating the magnetic disk device. The first accommodation groove and the second accommodation groove cross each other to form an angle of 45 degrees or 90 degrees.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2005Date of Patent: July 14, 2009Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Yoshinori Kadowaki, Hisato Suzuki, Hiroyuki Uematsu, Hiroshi Hasegawa

Publication number: 20080080327Abstract: A command processing unit outputs a format command to an HDD. While the HDD is being formatted, a format-error causing unit outputs a reset command to the HDD. The reset command causes abnormal end of the formatting of the HDD, which makes reading of data from the HDD impossible.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 30, 2007Publication date: April 3, 2008Applicant: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Yoshinori Kadowaki, Hisato Suzuki, Nobuaki Harimoto, Kimiaki Haga

Patent number: 7233477Abstract: In a portable data erasing device, to prevent data leaks from magnetic disk devices to be disposed, data is erased by a simple operation. The data erasing device using a magnetic field generated by permanent magnets to erase data comprises a sliding tray, a main body and a swinging tray. The sliding tray is movable into and out from the main body, two permanent magnets, adjacently arranged so that the north and south poles thereof have mutually attracting polarities, are attached to the front end of the sliding tray. One end of the swinging tray is fixed to the upper surface of the main body by a shaft, so that a magnetic disk device can be mounted and swung on top of the main body. While the sliding tray is extracted stepwise from the main body, the magnetic disk device can be swung, and data on the magnetic disks erased.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2003Date of Patent: June 19, 2007Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Hiroshi Hasegawa, Hisato Suzuki, Hiroyuki Uematsu

Publication number: 20060146435Abstract: A data erasing device erasing data from a magnetic disk using horizontal-direction and vertical-direction magnetic fields of magnets consists of a main body case having a path connected to an opening formed on one side surface, a first magnetic field generating source having three permanent magnets adjacently disposed on one surface of the path in mutually adsorbing polarities, a second magnetic field generating source having three permanent magnets on the other side of the first magnetic field generating source via the path, and a tray that accommodates a magnetic recording medium and reciprocates within the path. Only one permanent magnet at one end of the second magnetic field generating source has a polarity of the same direction as that of the opposite permanent magnet. Each of the rest two permanent magnets has a polarity in a direction different from that of the opposite permanent magnet.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2005Publication date: July 6, 2006Applicant: FUJITSU LIMITEDInventors: Hiroshi Hasegawa, Hisato Suzuki, Hiroyuki Uematsu

Patent number: 7027249Abstract: The invention enables a magnetic disk drive to be inserted and removed against an attraction force exerted by a magnetic force that is strong enough to erase data on a magnetic disk enclosed within a metal case. A converting mechanism comprising a ballscrew and a ballscrew nut bracket is provided that converts rotational motion of a handle into translational motion of an HDD holder; by rotating the handle, the HDD holder with the hard disk drive mounted thereon is moved in the inserting and removing directions by overcoming the attraction force being exerted by the magnetic field generated by means of a permanent magnet. An electric motor may be used to generate the rotational force.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2004Date of Patent: April 11, 2006Assignee: Fujitsu LimitedInventors: Hiroshi Hasegawa, Hisato Suzuki, Kazutoshi Suzuki, Hiroyuki Uematsu, Takahiro Ono
