  • Patent number: 6314364
Abstract: A system to enable the operator of a vehicle to view road and traffic conditions straight ahead, while simultaneously viewing road and traffic conditions behind the vehicle to achieve safe, strain-free vehicle operation. The system comprises: a plurality of compact video cameras (1, 2 and 3) utilizing CCD video imaging devices; positioned for wide angle viewing of front and rear traffic conditions. The output from the CCD devices are controlled and processed by a computer (6) containing an interactive CD-ROM disc and drive device (7). The images output by the personal computer are displayed on a horizontally extended display (5), positioned just above the surface of a dashboard of the vehicle. Safety margins are calculated and established by the interactive computer system and vocal warning is issued by the computer when the safety margins on the displays are exceeded.

  • Patent number: 5590214
Abstract: The efficiency of a vertical array speaker device is raised to obtain an adequate level of sound and to confine the horizontal radiation of the listening area of a surround sound system. A pair of baffle boards are mounted to a vertical array (4) with small diameter speakers (3), in symmetrical opposition, the boards are attached together at their rear edges (1a, 1b,) while the front edges are held open a predetermined width.

  • Patent number: 4969196
Abstract: A speaker and horn array having improved audio characteristics is formed in a baffle case. A plurality of small speakers are mounted in the baffle case in a vertical array in close proximity with one another. Each of the speakers has an acoustic baffle over the back of the speaker with an opening located in the baffle. An array of small horns are located in association with the speakers in the baffle case. As with the speakers the horns are also in a vertical array. Each of the horns includes an individual throat, however, all of the horns are joined into a common vertically oriented mouth. The throat of each horn is connected to the opening in the baffle of one of the speakers. This backloads the individual speakers with the common mouth of each of the horns resulting in common backloading of each of the speakers.

  • Patent number: 4553628
Abstract: A speaker unit utilizing the sound radiation from the front and rear faces of a diaphragm can be constructed by placing the diaphragm in an acoustic baffle to isolate the back side and front side radiation and propogating the backside radiation through a tube to an acoustic resonator. This arrangement acoustically backloads the speaker and extends the frequency range over which piston-like motion of the diaphragm occurs without speaker breakup. A loudspeaker system producing good stereo image perception and suited for stereo sound reproduction for home or studio sound monitoring use can be constructed with a linear array of loudspeaker units. The sound radiation from the linear array is kept in phase over the audible range and through a wide angle about the axis of the array.

  • Patent number: 4179256
Abstract: A vulcanization apparatus for a continuous length of article comprises a curved vulcanizing pipe devised to ensure, with the aid of a heating liquid medium recirculation system assembled thereto, a stable and even vulcanization of such a continuous length of article without damaging the same, a tubular cleaner for removing the heating liquid medium deposited on said continuous length of article and a cooling pipe, said vulcanizing pipe, tubular cleaner and cooling pipe being connected together in the cited sequence, without a provision of any spacious separating means or sealing means therebetween, in an arrangement in which a mutual ingression between the heating liquid and cleaning and/or cooling medium can be prevented from and in which the economy can be improved in cost as well as in space while ensuring safety.
