  • Patent number: 9121333
Abstract: A cooling device is incorporated into a V-type engine E in which a front cylinder and a rear cylinder are arranged in V-shape and a rear exhaust pipe is placed at a right side of a vehicle body. The cooling device 1 includes an intake duct and a fan. The intake duct has a suction port which opens toward the rear exhaust pipe. The fan suctions the air into the interior of the intake duct through the suction port and exhausts the suctioned air to a location distant from the exhaust pipe.

  • Patent number: 8322479
Abstract: A covering for a motorcycle exhaust tube is employed in a V-banked combustion engine having a drive output shaft, extending in a direction widthwise of a motorcycle body structure, and front and rear cylinder units arranged one after another in a direction longitudinally thereof, the front cylinder unit being displaced in one sidewise direction relative to a longitudinal mid-center line of the motorcycle body structure. The covering includes a covering body for covering a front exhaust tube, which is drawn from the front cylinder unit in a direction opposite to the one sidewise direction and extends rearwardly downwardly, and a covering extension provided in the covering body and positioned rearwardly of a radiator so as to extend towards the front cylinder unit.

  • Patent number: 6422332
Abstract: An intake apparatus is provided for an engine of a vehicle. The intake apparatus can introduce fresh air under the vehicle's large running wind pressure. The intake apparatus also allows the opening area and profile of an air inlet to be selected freely. The intake apparatus includes a pair of intake ducts 13 for introducing the air into the engine and an air-introducing duct 15 connected to respective upstream ends of the intake ducts 13 to provide the air inlet 14. The air-introducing duct 15 is formed independently of a cowling 16 fitted to a front of the vehicle. The air-introducing duct 15 has its leading end 15a positioned ahead of a leading end 16a of the cowling 16.

  • Patent number: 5394698
Abstract: A hydraulic transmission apparatus has: a swash plate hydraulic pump having a pump cylinder block; and a swash plate hydraulic motor which has a motor cylinder block and is arranged coaxially in a line with the swash plate pump so as to face in the same direction as the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump and motor area connected by a hydraulic passage system. The pump swash plate is provided at a side of the motor cylinder block, the side being close to the hydraulic pump. The motor swash plate is provided at a side of the motor cylinder block, the side being remote from the hydraulic pump, and its tilt angle is varied so as to vary the capacity of the hydraulic motor. The hydraulic passage system has a valve body provided at a side of the hydraulic pump so as to be substantially coaxial with the hydraulic pump. A hydraulic distributor ring is provided so as to be in slidable contact with the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4972921
Abstract: An improved muffler of relatively large size for internal combustion engines is shown, which comprises a main hollow shell, assembled from half sections with caulked flanges to join the sections together into an airtight enclosure, at least one perforated baffle plate having its periphery clamped between the opposite edges, exhaust inlet and outlet ports. The baffle plate is bent into a curve defining in the inside of the shell chambers differing in volume from one another, through which the exhaust gases from an engine are forced to flow so that the gases alternately expand and contract. In addition to the rigid integration of the baffle plate with the shell by caulking, various interlocking and elastic members rigidly interconnect between the plate and the inside walls of the shell in such a manner as to reduce development or transmission of the vibrations in the shell components due to the pressure oscillations of the exhaust gases.
