Patent number: 7013473Abstract: In high-speed high-density recording, heat generation becomes a problem as high-frequency modulation and a strong magnetic field of a magnetic head are realized. A transducer supporting structure is provided including a thermally coupling contact portion extended from a part of a suspension and brought into contact with a magnetic core. Heat generated in a coil is dissipated to the suspension via the magnetic core and the thermally coupling contact portion.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2004Date of Patent: March 14, 2006Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Osamu Mizuno, Yutaka Murakami, Hisayuki Enshu, Hideki Aikoh, Tohru Nakamura

Publication number: 20040213090Abstract: A head main body (12) is supported at a free end of a cantilevered suspension (14). The head main body (12) has a first holding portion (5) that is substantially in parallel to an information recording medium (1), and the suspension (14) has a second holding portion (6) that is substantially in parallel to the information recording medium (1) and is located near the free end of the suspension (14). When a magnetic head device is not used, the head main body (12) is spaced away from the information recording medium (1). At this time, when an external shock is applied, the first holding portion (5) and the second holding portion (6) contact each other, thereby preventing a permanent deformation of the suspension (14). It is possible to reduce a displacement amount against a shock when the head main body (12) is spaced away from the information recording medium (1). Consequently, a spacing amount of the magnetic head main body (12) can be reduced.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2004Publication date: October 28, 2004Applicant: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yutaka Murakami, Osamu Mizuno, Hisayuki Enshu, Tohru Nakamura

Patent number: 6426850Abstract: A slider portion is provided with protrusion portions having a spherical surface, contacting a recording medium. A center of a magnetic pole is arranged on the line C1 connecting the vertices of the protrusion portions. Line C1 is more or less aligned with the gliding direction of the protrusion portions. Thereby, positional variations between the magnetic pole and the surface of the recording medium can be minimized even when the head slider is tilted with respect to the surface of the recording medium. Thus, a gliding converter support structure is provided whose conversion efficiency does not decrease when it is tilted with respect to the surface of the recording medium, which is easy to manufacture, has little gliding resistance, and does not easily accumulate dust.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1999Date of Patent: July 30, 2002Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Osamu Mizuno, Yutaka Murakami, Hisayuki Enshu, Tohru Nakamura

Patent number: 6212044Abstract: A magnetic head device comprises a moving member comprising a slider, which is fastened to a system for applying a magnetic field and slides on or is close to an optomagnetic disk, an elastically supporting member having a first end, to which the moving member is attached, the elastically supporting member supporting the moving member in a manner that the moving member can move, a fastening member fastened to a second end of said elastically supporting member, a position control pin, and a position control hole formed at the center of gravity of the moving member. When a shock is applied, the position control pin mates with the position control hole, so that not only the vertical position of the moving member, but also its horizontal position can be restricted. Moreover, since the position control hole is formed at the center of gravity of the moving member, a resultant moment on the moving member can be avoided. Thus, a magnetic head device with excellent shock resistance can be provided.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1998Date of Patent: April 3, 2001Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yutaka Murakami, Osamu Mizuno, Hisayuki Enshu

Patent number: 6016239Abstract: A transducer supporting apparatus (K1-K7) comprises: a transducer (11, 12) which confronts a recording medium (1) and is moved relative to the recording medium (1) in a direction (R) so as to record and reproduce information on the recording medium (1); a slider (21-27) which is coupled with the transducer (11, 12) and includes a projecting member (21a-25a; 26a, 26b; 27a, 27b) protruding towards the recording medium (1); a pivot member (31-33; 35-37) for pivotally supporting the slider (21-27) so as to pivot the slider (21-27) about a pivot axis (x-axis) substantially parallel to the recording medium (1) and at least not parallel to a contact line (C) between the projecting member (21a-25a; 26a, 26b; 27a, 27b) and the recording medium (1); and a loading member (31-33; 35-37) for depressing the projecting member (21a-25a; 26a, 26b; 27a, 27b) against the recording medium (1); wherein the contact line (C) is oriented in a direction other than the direction (R) of relative movement between the recording medium (1Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1998Date of Patent: January 18, 2000Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Osamu Mizuno, Hisayuki Enshu, Tohru Nakamura
