  • Patent number: 10657406
Abstract: Devices, computer-readable media, and methods for exporting text captured from a video program presented on a display screen using optical character recognition to an alternate destination are disclosed. For example, a processor may present a video program via a display screen, receive, from a control device associated with the display screen, a request to capture text from the video program, and identify text from a frame of the video program via optical character recognition. When the text from the frame is identified via optical character recognition, the processor may present, via the display screen, the text in a selectable format, receive, from the control device, a selection of at least a portion of the text that is presented in the selectable format, and send the at least the portion of the text to an alternate destination in accordance with the selection of the at least the portion of the text.

  • Patent number: 10356458
Abstract: Presentation of content and display of program information in an electronic program guide (EPG) can be controlled. A content manager component of a device can control or modify display of program information in the EPG based on user information selecting favorite programs on various channels or applications. Based on the modified EPG, the content manager component can switch to respective channels or applications presenting respective favorite programs at respective times of presentation of the respective favorite programs. The content manager component also can modify the EPG to prominently display a defined number of most popular programs for respective time slots in the EPG to facilitate presentation of popular programs to the user via the EPG and selection of popular programs by the user.

  • Patent number: 10277953
Abstract: Video and audio content is searchable using a text search. A search component can analyze respective items of content to identify words spoken in the items of content, and generate respective transcripts of the respective words of the items of content based on the analysis. The search component receives a text search comprising a keyword and analyzes the respective transcripts to determine whether a transcript(s) contains a word that matches or substantially matches the keyword. The search component generates a search result(s) associated with the transcript(s) that at least is a substantial match to the keyword. The search component can present a time indicator indicating a time position in proximity to where the word is located in the content of the search result(s), and presentation of the content can start from that time position. The search component can be executed in a set-top box associated with a presentation device.
