  • Publication number: 20210386273
Abstract: In one example, a medical device may include a handle including a proximal portion and a distal portion, and the proximal portion may pivot relative to the distal portion. The medical device may also include an insertion portion coupled to the distal portion of the handle and configured to be positioned within a body lumen; and an articulation wire extending from the handle through the insertion portion. Pivoting of the proximal portion of the handle relative to the distal portion of the handle may move the articulation wire relative to the insertion portion to bend a distal portion of the insertion portion.

  • Publication number: 20210236160
Abstract: A device for draining cysts includes a catheter system configured to deploy an absorbent material, including but not limited to a foam, into a cyst. The absorbent material advantageously absorbs fluid contained within the cyst, for example fluid that may remain following aspiration, reducing the potential for cyst recurrence. In various embodiments, the absorbent material may be bioabsorbable, radiolucent, echogenic, drug eluting, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments the device may further include or be coupled to a vacuum source which applies negative pressure to the cyst during foam delivery, thereby reduce the overall size and/or profile of the cyst.

  • Publication number: 20210236100
Abstract: A biopsy forceps device includes a control member; a yoke coupled to the member; jaws coupled to the yoke; and a capsule. In an open configuration, the jaws are separated to receive target tissue. In a closed configuration, cutting edges of the jaws are moved toward one another to cut tissue. The capsule slidably receives the yoke and a portion of the jaws. The jaws are constrained to the closed configuration when withdrawn proximally to a first position within the capsule. When the jaws are moved to a second position, portions of the jaws are freed from the constraint capsule and spread apart. When the yoke and the jaws are moved distally and the jaws move to the open configuration, a tissue contacting structure of the yoke extends distally to engage tissue between the jaws to anchor the engaged tissue again lateral movement as the jaws contact the tissue.

  • Publication number: 20210030424
Abstract: A device includes an anoscope including an elongated hollow member with a longitudinal slot configured to receive tissue in an interior of the hollow member. The device also includes a clip applicator. The clip applicator includes a body slidably received in the slot and jaws at a distal end of the body configured to hold a ligation clip. The clip applicator further includes a plunger slidably coupled to the body configured to actuate the jaws. When the clip applicator is inserted into the slot and the plunger is moved relative to the body, the jaws close and deform the ligation clip from an open position into a closed position around tissue received in the slot.

  • Publication number: 20210007749
Abstract: A device includes an elongated hollow member having an open distal end for receiving tissue therein and at least one exterior groove for loading at least one ligation band thereon. The device also includes a band deployment sleeve slidable over the exterior of the hollow member and configured to move from a radially expanded position to a radially contracted position in which, when the band deployment sleeve slides longitudinally over the hollow member, the distal portion engages the at least one ligation band. A closing sleeve slidable over the exterior of the band deployment sleeve is configured to constrain the distal portion from the radially expanded position into the radially contracted position. Retracting the closing sleeve proximally over the distal portion of the band deployment sleeve releases the distal portion from the radially contracted position into the radially expanded position.

  • Publication number: 20190282220
Abstract: A biopsy forceps includes an end effector with opposing first and second jaws coupled together and configured to move from an open configuration to a closed configuration. Each of the first jaw and the second jaw includes a plurality of teeth having a base. The bases of two adjacent teeth of the first jaw are spaced apart to form a first gap, and the bases of two adjacent teeth on the second jaw are spaced apart to form a second gap. The end effector in the closed configuration may define one or more windows between edges of the first and the second jaws. And, at least one of these windows may include at least a portion of one or both of the first and second gaps.

  • Publication number: 20190282219
Abstract: A biopsy forceps device includes a tension member and an end effector including first and second jaws movable between an open configuration, in which the jaws are separated from one another to receive target tissue therebetween, and a closed configuration, in which cutting edges of the jaws are moved toward one another to cut a portion of the target tissue. The jaws define a tissue receiving space therebetween to house the cut tissue. The jaws are pivotable relative to one another, each of the jaws including a serrated cutting edge extending therealong, the end effector further including a tension member attachment including a proximal end coupled to the tension member. The attachment is movably coupled to the jaws so that distal movement of the attachment moves the jaws to the open configuration while proximal movement thereof moves the jaws to the closed configuration.

  • Publication number: 20190254644
Abstract: A biopsy forceps device includes a tension member and an end effector which includes jaws movable between an open configuration, in which the jaws are separated from one another to receive target tissue therebetween, and a closed configuration, in which cutting edges of the jaws are moved toward one another to cut a portion of the target tissue from surrounding tissue. The jaws defines a tissue receiving space therebetween to house the cut tissue. The jaws are pivotable relative to one another. The end effector further includes a tension member attachment coupled to the tension member; a distal end of which terminates at a sharp spike configured to penetrate the tissue.
