  • Patent number: 5422737
Abstract: The invention provides a device for efficiently mounting an original onto an image reading drum in an image scanning system. The mounting device includes a lower holder section and an upper holder section, each made of a flexible but hard plastic sheet. The original is held in between the lower holder section and the upper holder section and is attached onto the image reading drum, which has a predetermined thickness greater than a distance causing Newton's rings. Accordingly, image signals obtained by scanning the original effectively represent an original image without Newton's rings.

  • Patent number: 4733309
Abstract: An apparatus for mounting an unexposed film on and demounting an exposed film from a color scanner is described. The color scanner includes a recording chamber, a rotary drum therein and cassettes for containing unexposed film and exposed films which are normally mounted in communication with the recording chamber but which are detachable therefrom. There is described a light-blind window in the recording chamber which will permit an operator to extract an unexposed film from an unexposed film cassette, mount it on the rotary drum, and after it has been exposed, remove it from the rotary drum and place it in an exposed film cassette which then may be taken to a developing unit.

  • Patent number: 4656505
Abstract: A method for color correction in the process for reproducing a picture in which color separation picture signals obtained by photoelectrically scanning an original picture are converted into picture signals which correspond to four printing color inks including a black ink therein to produce respective reproduction pictures for plate making corresponding to each of the color inks. A picture signal which corresponds to a black ink is produced according to gray color components obtained from B, G and R signals of the original picture, and according to chromatic color components obtained by subtracting neutral color components from said B, G and R signals. Color separation picture signals corresponding to other color inks, and deficiency in reproduction density of the black ink to be used in a black print is corrected by said other three color inks.

  • Patent number: 4503457
Abstract: A tint laying device for use in a picture reproducing machine, wherein a pickup head scans an original picture to pick up a picture signal and sends it to a color discriminator which discriminates a color in hue of the picture signal to output a discrimination signal to a halftone dot area rate controller, wherein the controller outputs a signal corresponding to a halftone dot area rate predetermined of a halftone dot to be recorded, per each color, to an exposure amount controller which varies the brightness corresponding to the halftone dot area rate depending on the signal output from the controller, and wherein an exposure head scans a recording film and records a reproduction picture thereon according to the halftone dot area rate in synchronization with the pickup head. This device is capable of performing an accurate and quick operation without any skill.

  • Patent number: 4335407
Abstract: A sharpness emphasizing method and machine used in a picture reproducing machine such as a color separator, wherein a sharpness emphasizing signal is prepared from a main signal and an unsharp signal, which are obtained by scanning an original picture, in a sharpness emphasizing signal circuit, wherein a corrected sharpness emphasizing signal is selectively produced from the sharpness emphasizing signal depending on the leap of the unsharp signal in a sharpness emphasizing component pickup circuit, and wherein the corrected sharpness emphasizing signal is added to the main signal in a composer circuit, thereby obtaining a picture signal whose sharpness is emphasized in its detail portions.

  • Patent number: 4314274
Abstract: A method for carrying out a color correction in a digital manner in a picture reproducing machine such as a color scanner, a color facsimile, or the like, which is capable of saving a large volume of capacity of a memory, wherein a resultant value obtained from a combination of color separation signals which are obtained by scanning photoelectrically a color original picture, is represented in a plane coordinate system, and wherein the coordinates of the resultant value are transformed in order to correct hue and saturation by operating the color separation signals together with factors predetermined, thereby obtaining a combination of color-corrected color separation signals.
