  • Patent number: 7398708
Abstract: A pedal support structure for a vehicle includes a main body provided between a catcher and a toe board. A front end of the main body is connected to the toe board, and a rear end thereof is spaced apart from a downwardly inclined surface of the catcher. A pedal bracket support part has a supporting surface supported on a bulkhead. The pedal bracket has a connecting surface, and the connecting surface is connected to the supporting surface. When a force is applied to a front part of the vehicle, the load rearwardly moves the main body, the connecting surface slides on the supporting surface, and the rear end of the main body slides downwardly along the inclined surface of the catcher. Accordingly, a pedal on the pedal support structure is moved toward an engine compartment of the vehicle without moving toward a passenger.

  • Patent number: 7011339
Abstract: A pedal bracket structure wherein a pedal lever is rotatably supported in the vicinity of the rear end portion of a pedal bracket fixed to a toe board at the front end portion thereof, a rigidity supplementing portion is formed in the vicinity of the aforesaid front end portion and a brittle portion is formed at the rear end portion of the rigidity supplementing portion. Only with a simple structural modification in which the rigidity supplementing portion is provided contiguously with the brittle portion formed to promote the absorption of impact by deformation between a mounting portion to the toe board and the brittle portion. While the pedal bracket is made to deform longitudinally easily through the formation of the brittle portion, the pedal bracket provides such a superior rigid feeling that the driver feels no uncertainty in operating the pedal.

  • Patent number: 6701800
Abstract: A pedal support structure for use in a vehicle contains a toe board, a steering support beam, a master cylinder, a pair of pedal support elements including pedal support portions, a supporting mechanism provided between the pedal support portions supporting a pedal lever, and a catcher bracket. When an impact is applied to the vehicle, the pedal support portions are spread apart so as to disconnect the pedal lever from the pedal supporting mechanism and the movement of the pedal lever in a direction toward an operator of the vehicle is restricted by the pedal lever contacting the catcher bracket.
