  • Patent number: 4704328
Abstract: An undercoat composition for ceramic flame spraying and composite molded articles produced using the undercoat composition are disclosed. The undercoat composition comprises an inorganic filler component having complex irregularities in the surface thereof and an organic binder component. The composite molded articles comprises a substrate, a ceramic flame sprayed coating, and an intermediate layer between the substrate and the ceramic flame sprayed coating, said intermediate layer being made of the above undercoat composition. The present undercoat composition permits good ceramic flame spraying, and there can be obtained composite molded articles having good impact resistance and environmental resistance.

  • Patent number: 4673846
Abstract: In a microwave discharge light source apparatus for effecting discharge of an electrodeless discharge lamp held in a cavity which causes resonance by microwaves, the wall surface of the cavity resonator is constituted by a mesh and wires constituting the mesh, are electrically connected at each crossing point without resistance of contact. Effective discharging of the lamp is attainable and the cavity has a mechanically strengthened structure.

  • Patent number: 4663927
Abstract: A slub yarn, in which a sheath component is wound around a core component to form a plurality of slub portions along the axis of the yarn, which structure is obtained by simultaneously false-twist texturing the core and sheath components. The slub yarn has a feature that the slub portion includes a multilayered winding structure of seven or more layers of the sheath component wound around the core component. A method for producing the slub yarn includes a step of overfeeding a sheath component to a core component in the direction substantially perpendicular to a passage of the core component in a twisting zone of a false-twist texturing machine while the sheath component is guided by a guide repeatedly traversed along a passage of the core component, a distance between the guide and the passage of the core component being kept in a range not shorter than 10 cm. An apparatus for randomly traversing the sheath component along the core component during the false-twist texturing process is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4498029
Abstract: A microwave generated plasma light source including a microwave generator, a microwave cavity having a light reflecting member forming at least a portion of the cavity, and a member transparent to light and opaque to microwaves disposed across an opening of the cavity opposite the feeding opening through which the microwave generator is coupled. An electrodeless discharge bulb is disposed at a position in the cavity such that the cavity operates as a resonant cavity at least when the bulb is emitting light. In the bulb is encapsulated at least one discharge light emissive substance. The bulb has a shape and is sufficiently small that the bulb acts substantially as a point light source.

  • Patent number: 4285837
Abstract: A catalyst for steam reforming of hydrocarbons comprises porous aluminum oxide and nickel oxide, characterized in that the porous aluminum oxide in which the pore volume given by the pores of the pore diameter ranging from 60 to 120 A is not less than 0.35 ml./g. and the pore volume given by the pores of the pore diameter of more than 120 A is not less than 0.1 ml./g. and the purity determined upon ignition dryness is not less than 98% by weight is impregnated with nickel in an amount ranging from 10 to 30% by weight, as converted to nickel oxide basis, based on the total amount by weight of the catalyst.
