  • Patent number: 5712965
Abstract: A solid graphic arranging/editing method enables a user to enter or edit a solid graphic viewed on a display. According to the method, three points of a rectangular parallelepiped are specified, and the solid is arranged to be inscribed within the parallelepiped. A reference plane is then defined and a first point on the reference plane is specified. A local coordinate plane is also defined and a second point is specified on the local coordinate plane. A rectangle lying in the local coordinate plane and having the first and second points as diagonal vertices is then displayed. Auxiliary lines perpendicular to the local coordinate plane and passing the second point are also displayed and a third point on a selected auxiliary line is displayed. A rectangular parallelepiped is then displayed having the rectangle as one surface and the third point as a vertex. The position of the solid and the scales are then adjusted such that the solid is inscribed in the rectangular parellelepiped.

  • Patent number: 5630036
Abstract: An image data compression method in which reductions in data amount are achieved by deleting some pixel data. Compression is achieved by performing a reading step to read an image as plural pixel data and a deleting step to delete some of the pixel data. A prediction error calculating step calculates a prediction error that represents the difference between the color value pixel data of a pixel in question and the predicted color value thereof, as predicted by a prescribed prediction method from the pixel data of a pixel adjacent thereto. An area classifying step classifies the pixel data of the entire image area into either an abrupt color change areas type in which the prediction error is large or a nonabrupt color change area in which the prediction error is small. The deleting step is performed only on the pixel data classified in the nonabrupt color change area; deleted-position information is appended to the non-deleted pixel data that indicates the position of a pixel whose data has been deleted.

  • Patent number: 5627656
Abstract: A motion picture reproducing apparatus having a file composed of a header an image track on which image data have been recorded for a predetermined period of time and a sound track on which sound data have been recorded for the predetermined period of time. The image and sound data of the file are provided with track and data identifying numbers by a track identifying section and a data identifying section, respectively, and are outputted to a data synchronizing section. The data synchronizing section reads in order the image data and the sound data on the basis of the control information of the header, synchronizes the image data and the sound data to which the same data identifying numbers have been imparted with reference to the track and data identifying numbers which have been given to the image data and sound data, and outputs the image and sound data to reproduction units.

  • Patent number: 5619628
Abstract: In a 3-dimensional animation generating apparatus which uses a computer, the user generates a number of static images having parent-child relationships and which serve as key frames in the sequence from the start to the end of the animation, a number of animation frames specified by the user being automatically inserted between the key frames by means of interpolation. In this 3-dimensional animation generating apparatus, the times of each of the key frames as specified by the user are stored, the parent object coordinates and child object coordinates generated by the user are stored in a world coordinate system, along with parent-child relationship in each of the key frames.

  • Patent number: 5605268
Abstract: A portable motor-driven staple machine comprises: a trigger operation detecting switch 5 which is turned on and off by a trigger lever 3; a contact detecting switch 25 which is turned on and off by a contact arm 23; a cycle completion detecting switch 21 which is turned on and off by a plunger 17; and a mode change-over switch for selecting a single cycle operation mode or a continuous operation mode. Those switches are connected to a control circuit 26. When the trigger lever 3 is operated with the contact detecting switch 25 in "off" state, a timer section in the control circuit 26 counts clock pulses so that when it is detected that a predetermined period of time has passed, the switch "on" signal of the trigger operation detecting switch 5 is cut off.

  • Patent number: 5606632
Abstract: A device comprises a look-up table translating unit, a region dividing unit and a reduced image generating unit to reduce the size of a color image using look-up tables and a reference look-up table. Each of the look-up and reference look-up tables has as many entries as there are the pixel values. The look-up table translating unit creates an entry check table. The entry check table is for translating the table entries of the look-up table into the those of the reference look-up table. The region dividing unit divides the original color image into a plurality of regions. The reduced image generating unit accesses the entry check table and the reference look-up table to selectively determine a representative pixel of the region based on the RGB values thereof to generate the reduced color images.

  • Patent number: 5452097
Abstract: A video data reproducing apparatus and method therefor having a file controller section for controlling video data recorded on a first recording medium at random positions, and further, having a second recording medium for recording the video data in a serial manner. The apparatus includes a decision section for judging whether to select the video data of either the first recording medium or the second recording medium. A first reading section reads out the data of the first recording medium through the file controller section when the first recording medium is selected by the decision section, and a second reading section reads out the video data to a buffer memory from the second recording medium, without any intervention of the file controller section, when the second recording medium is selected by the decision section.

  • Patent number: 5440685
Abstract: An apparatus including an image pick-up device, a data storage controlling arrangement, a main memory, a mass storage device, and a manipulation size setting unit. The image pick-up device picks up images to produce image data and stores the same into a frame buffer. The main memory offers rapid access but low storage capacity and stores the image data supplied from the frame buffer. The mass storage device is capable of holding a vast amount of memory but cannot be accessed very quickly. It also stores the image data supplied from the frame buffer. The manipulation size setting unit sets a mask region and a frame rate both of which are necessary for storing the image data into the mass storage device.
