  • Patent number: 5045369
Abstract: A container substantially made of plastic materials and having a gas barrier property. The container has a wall including a laminated sheet which comprises an inner layer and an outer layer both made of a thermoplastic material and an intermediate barrier layer between the inner and outer layers and made of a resin material of which gas barrier property can be improved by stretching. The intermediate layer is held between the inner and outer layers in a stretched state. A rigid layer of a large thickness may be provided outside the outer layer. In manufacturing the container, the intermediate layer may be in a stretched state when the laminate is provided. The rate of stretching can be increased when the laminated sheet is formed into the shape of the container.

  • Patent number: 5036184
Abstract: In a card reader for reading information from a card which may contain the information as optical, magnetic, electronic or physical data, inside a casing is provided a carriage which carries the card and is adapted to be conveyed from an outer position to an inner position by a linear drive mechanism. By not using a pair of drive and pinch rollers as opposed to conventional card readers, the card is free from contaimination by the rollers, and the operation reliability of the card reader is improved. Further, the elimination of rollers also contributes to the reduction in the overall height of the card reader. The clamp mechanism for securing a card to the carriage may be provided with interlocking means which prevents the movement of the carriage until a card is securely gripped by the clamp mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4992129
Abstract: A method for thermal transfer printing by heating a transfer sheet having a printing ink layer formed on a base sheet with a hot roll, wherein the base sheet comprises biaxially stretched plastic film, and, at the same time, pressing with the hot roll the transfer sheet against a substrate for printing, thereby transferring the printing ink layer to the substrate, wherein the substrate for printing is preheated prior to the pressing, and a transfer printing machine having a supplying roll axle for a roll of transfer paper urged to rotate in the rewinding direction by an urging force, a heat roll for performing heat transfer by pressing one surface of the transfer paper on which printing ink is not applied so as to cause the transfer paper to pressingly contact an object of transfer with a surface to which printing ink has been applied, and a takeup roll axle adapted for intermittently rotating and rewinding, for each rotation thereof, one pitch of the transfer paper having undergone the transfer, an improveme

  • Patent number: 4992952
Abstract: A paint discharge rate control system includes a paint flow regulator provided in a paint supply line connecting a color changing valve group to a painting nozzle, a paint mass flow meter for measuring the mass flow rate of paint, provided in the paint supply line, and a control for controlling the paint flow regulator on the basis of a paint mass flow rate measured by the paint mass flow meter to control paint discharge rate. The control converts a measured paint mass flow rate measured by the paint mass flow meter into a volumetric flow rate, and controls the paint flow regulator during a push-out operation, in which the valves of the color hanging valve group are closed and a valve for supplying a washing liquid is opened, so that the paint remaining in the paint supply line is pushed out by the washing liquid at a paint discharge rate at which the paint is discharged during the main step of painting.

  • Patent number: 4988013
Abstract: A container lid structure made essentially of plastics. The lid structure includes a lid frame and a lid plate. The lid plate includes an inner layer comprising a metal foil coated at the opposite sides by plastic layers and connected at the peripheral portion with the lid frame and a core made of a material which is not adhesive to or has a weak bonding power with the plastic material for the lid frame and for the plastic layer of the inner layer. The core is laid over the inner layer with the peripheral portion in an abutting relationship with the inner periphery of the lid frame. A holding member is formed on the core and bonded to the inner layer through apertures in the core. A pulling tab is also formed on the core and bonded to the inner layer through an aperture in the core.

  • Patent number: 4872590
Abstract: A plastic can is formed of a body member including a content protecting layer which is a tubular body formed by folding back and outward one side edge of a laminated film, bonding the folded parts such that air bubbles are not entrapped thereunder, overlapping the other side edge of the same laminated film on the bonded surface and bonding the side edges such that air bubbles are not entrapped between the side edges. An additional sheet is bonded all over the external surface of the laminated film except for a projecting stripe formed by the bonding of the side edges. A surfacing plastic layer covers the additional sheet and the projecting stripes. An apparatus is provided for forming the can, smoothing the surfacing plastic layer, forming the tube into can bodies, shaping the can bodies and sealing, lids on the ends of the cans.
