Patent number: 8139224Abstract: A particulate concentration detector including a detection mechanism having a light emission unit and light reception unit. The particulate concentration detector detects the concentration of particulates suspended in a liquid from the light amount detected by the detection mechanism. The detection mechanism includes a first light guide, a second light guide, a liquid chamber, and a third light guide. The first light guide is arranged at a location facing toward a light emission surface of the light emission unit. The second light guide is arranged at a location facing toward a light reception surface of the light reception unit. The liquid chamber is formed between the first light guide and second light guide and allows the liquid to flow therein. The third light guide is arranged in an oscillatable manner in the liquid chamber so as to face toward the first light guide and the second light guide.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2008Date of Patent: March 20, 2012Assignees: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki Kaisha, Nippon Soken, Inc.Inventors: Noriyasu Amano, Rie Osaki, Kazuki Matsuo, Naoya Kato, Hitoshi Uda

Patent number: 7764360Abstract: A fuel property sensor is provided with three bypass passages and a measure passage. The measure passage is located inside of a closed loop which is comprised of common tangential lines of adjacent bypass passages and a part of profile line of each bypass passage in a cross section perpendicular to the measure passage. Even if the fuel property sensor is rotated around the axis of a fuel pipe in assembling the fuel property sensor to the fuel pipe, at least one of two bypass passages is always located above the measure passage in a vertical direction. Hence, bubbles included in the fuel are restricted from flowing into the measure passage. The fuel property sensor can detect the concentration of ethanol contained in the fuel with high accuracy.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2008Date of Patent: July 27, 2010Assignees: Denso Corporation, Nippon Soken, Inc., Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hitoshi Noguchi, Rie Osaki, Hiroshi Nakamura, Hitoshi Uda, Yukihiro Tsukasaki, Hiroki Ichinose

Patent number: 5628286Abstract: An improvement of a valve timing control apparatus for an engine is disclosed. The apparatus has an intake valve and an exhaust valve which are alternately opened and closed in a valve timing sequence according to a rotation of a cam shaft. A timing pulley mounted on the cam shaft has a housing accommodating a plunger movable therein and a sleeve secured to the cam shaft. The housing has a first and second pressure chambers defined by the plunger and sealed with respect to each other. The plunger is arranged to move in an axial direction to selectively advance and retard the cam shaft based on differential pressure between the first pressure chamber and the second pressure chamber. A controller controls an electromagnetic valve with a specific control value to adjust the fluid pressure to be supplied to the first and second pressure chambers to maintain the valve timing sequence converged to a target valve timing.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1996Date of Patent: May 13, 1997Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Senji Kato, Nobuhisa Ohkawa, Shigeru Sone, Tadahisa Naganawa, Yoshihito Moriya, Yoshiya Yamashita, Hitoshi Uda, Yuji Yoshihara

Patent number: 5609888Abstract: An apparatus for producing multifilaments having high fiber strength is disclosed. A spinneret melt spins a polyolefin at a first temperature into filaments. A cooling duct cools the filaments via convection at a second temperature. A chill roll, disposed downstream from the cooling duct, has a third temperature, and forcibly conductively cools the filaments. Finally, heated drawing rolls, disposed downstream from said chill roll, continuously draw the filaments at a high draw ratio.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1995Date of Patent: March 11, 1997Assignee: Showa Denko Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Hitoshi Uda, Tetsuya Takahashi, Ryosuke Kamei, Takeshi Sano

Patent number: 5349028Abstract: Polyester fiber consisting of an aliphatic polyester having a melt viscosity of 1.0.times.10.sup.2 -1.0.times.10.sup.4 poises at a temperature of 190.degree. C. at a shear rate of 1000 sec.sup.-1 and a melting point of 70-190.degree. C. The polyester fiber of the present invention exhibits biodegradability when buried in the ground. The amount of combustion heat generated on incineration is smaller than that of polyethylene and polypropylene. The polyester fiber of the present invention has excellent physical properties.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1993Date of Patent: September 20, 1994Assignee: Showa Highpolymer Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tetuya Takahashi, Hitoshi Uda, Akira Nakamura, Ryosuke Kamei, Eiichiro Takiyama
