  • Patent number: 7148979
Abstract: Disclosed is a system through which the nature of a problem in an apparatus is analyzed and the appropriate countermeasures displayed automatically by a computer that is capable of responding to an inquiry in the proper manner, thereby making it possible to determine the cause of the problem accurately and to deal with the problem quickly in round-the-clock support. A printer includes a controller having an internal store of information concerning sites to which inquiries regarding printer problems may be directed. A service depot computer is queried with regard to printer problems requiring maintenance by a serviceman. In a case where, depending upon the measures taken by the customer, it is possible for the customer to solve the problem himself without the assistance of a serviceman, a customer support computer is queried in regard to the nature of the problem. A message concerning countermeasures is received from the service depot computer or customer support computer and is displayed on a host computer.

  • Patent number: 4616126
Abstract: An information retrieval system for retrieving desired information from information recorded in a record medium is disclosed. The information on the record medium is classified into at least two groups and a first mark is added to the lower class information and a second mark is added to the higher class information. The marks are detected by mark detection means and the feed of the record medium is controlled in accordance with the output of the mark detection means. When there is an error in the retrieval or in the input, the error is detected and the feed of the record medium is stopped.

  • Patent number: 4514641
Abstract: The present invention provides a retrieving apparatus for retrieving desired information contained in a film making use of retrieval marks recorded on the film. The retrieving apparatus is useful for many different types of films having retrieval marks recorded in different marking modes. The retrieving apparatus comprises mark detector exchangeable according to the marking mode, a device for generating a coded signal corresponding to the exchange of mark detector and a display for making a display of the type of film usable in the apparatus in the present state of exchange of mark detector in response to the coded signal.

  • Patent number: 4432509
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically feeding a film to the outside of the reel on which the film has been rolled around. The film has a leader part affixed to the forward end of the film. The width of the leader part is larger than the width of the image recording part of the film. The reel has a pair of flanges disposed spaced from each other by a distance smaller than the width of the leader part. The leader part is rolled around the outer circumference of said paired flanges. A feed roller is provided to feed out the leader part to the outside of the reel. The feed roller has a width smaller than the space between the paired flanges and is movable between a position outside of the paired flanges and a position inside of the flanges. The position of the feed roller is detected by a detector which detects that the whole leader part has been fed out from the reel.

  • Patent number: 4405227
Abstract: A photographic apparatus for photographing originals in succession onto a photographic film of a continuous web form and then processing the thus exposed film. The apparatus is provided with a storage chamber located between the photographing station and the processing station for temporarily storing the film advanced from the photographing station, a feeder for feeding the film from the storage chamber to the processing station and a switch for actuating the feeder to feed the film from the storage chamber to the processing station. There are further provided a photographing controller adapted to prohibit the operation of the photographing device when a determined amount of the film is stored in the storage chamber and enable the photographing operation in response to the actuation of said switch, and a cutter for cutting the exposed film.

  • Patent number: 4351609
Abstract: This specification discloses an apparatus for photographing originals successively on a long footage of film. Originals of various sizes such as checks, stock-certificates, vouchers, etc. are photographed on the film. When originals of various sizes are photographed on unphotographed film, how may originals can be photographed on the unphotographed film is displayed. The number of originals photographable on the unphotographed film can be known for each size of original and can also be known as the number of originals having an average size which have hitherto been photographed or as the number of originals having a minimum or a maximum size. Also, in a photographing apparatus wherein photographed film is temporally stored in a storage portion and then fed to a developing portion, how many originals can be photographed on the film that is to be stored in the storage portion is displayed.
