  • Publication number: 20040052649
Abstract: A sliding component has a metal base member and a coating layer. The metal base member has a sliding surface. The layer is made of silane-modified resin. The silane-modified resin is made from resin that is soluble in solvent and is equal to or higher in heat-resistant than epoxy resin. The coating layer is formed on the sliding surface.

  • Publication number: 20040022706
Abstract: A paint composition includes a layer organic-inorganic composite, and titanium alkoxide in an amount of from 1 to 50 parts by weight with respect to the layer organic-inorganic composite taken as 100 parts by weight. The layer organic-inorganic composite is composed of a laminated substance. The laminated substance includes a tetrahedral structural layer and an octahedral structural layer. The tetrahedral structural layer is made of tetrahedral structures whose central atom M′ is Si or a first metallic atom substituting for a part the Si, at least a part of the central atom M′ covalent-bonded to an organic group R involving or free from a polymerizable functional group. The octahedral structural layer is made of octahedral structures whose central atom M is a second metallic atom.

  • Publication number: 20030035959
Abstract: A surface coating film coated on a substrate includes at least one member being selected from the group consisting of silicon dioxide and silicon dioxide derivatives, and an additive including polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) being dispersed or solved therein. A forming process therefor includes the steps of applying a coating solution on a surface of a substrate, the coating solution including at least one silicon containing compound, being selected from the group consisting of alkoxy silane, siloxane and organosiloxane, and an additive including PVP, and heating the substrate. Since PVP is dispersed or solved in the surface coating film, it is possible to improve the wear resistance and superficial hardness. Moreover, since the surface coating film is enhanced in terms of the toughness, no crack occurs even when it is formed by polymerization reactions.

  • Publication number: 20030024380
Abstract: A swash plate is operably connected through a lug plate and a hinge mechanism to a drive shaft, and slidably retained on an end part of each piston through a pair of front and rear shoes. A rotational motion of the swash plate following rotation of the drive shaft is converted through the shoes into a reciprocating motion of each piston. A thermoplastic polyimide coating is formed on the swash plate and the shoes as sliding components of a compressor. The thermoplastic polyimide coating may contain a solid lubricant. For the solid lubricant, for example, polytetrafluoroethylene is used. Thus, it is possible to obtain a compressor, which includes the sliding components having improved sliding characteristics, and is manufactured relatively easily.

  • Patent number: 6465388
Abstract: A photocatalytic film is formed by: a step for forming an uncured underlayer from an organic composition on the surface of a resinous base and polymerizing the organic composition to convert the uncured underlayer into an underlayer having a hardness higher than that of the resinous base; a step for forming an uncured intermediate layer from a polymerizable and curable silicone composition on the uncured underlayer or on the underlayer to yield an uncured intermediate layer, and polymerizing the polymerizable and curable silicone composition to convert the uncured intermediate layer to an intermediate layer, the polymerizable and curable silicone composition being prepared mainly from a hydrolyzable tetrafunctional silane derivative; and a step for forming a photocatalytic layer on the intermediate layer. This process can form an intermediate layer having a very high hardness without cracking and can easily yield a photocatalytic film having a satisfactory abrasion resistance.
