    Abstract: A distributed image signal processing (ISP) system for a head-mounted device reduces the power load on the battery of the head-mounted device. The distributed ISP system includes a Bayer image processing engine, an RGB image processing engine, and a YUV image processing engine. The Bayer image processing engine is operated by, for example, processing logic of the head-mounted device. The Bayer image processing engine provides Bayer image data from raw image data. The YUV image processing engine is operated by, for example, processing logic of a (companion) computing device (e.g., a phone, tablet, laptop, compute puck, personal computer). The computing device is communicatively coupled (e.g., wired or wirelessly) to the head-mounted device to receive image data. The RGB image processing engine may be operated by the head-mounted device or the computing device.

    Abstract: A time-sensitive network (TSN) standardized, maintained, and managed by the IEEE 802.1 Task Group improves the real-time and deterministic capabilities of Ethernet. However, traffic scheduling has not been standardized, and is being widely studied. Most research is essentially theoretical, and there are few practical verifications/research. In order to fill such a gap, the present invention provides detailed instructions for constructing an actual TSN-based process automation system first and regarding how a traffic scheduling method (TSM) will be distributed to industrial facilities. The present applicants empirically investigated the validity of a method according to the present invention and compared the performance thereof with that of a commercial TSN scheduler. The result shows that the method according to the present invention accurately schedules traffic such that robust real-time requirements are satisfied, and removes queuing delay, thereby accomplishing ultra-low latency.

    Abstract: The present invention proposes a novel joint traffic routing and scheduling method for computing routes for time-critical flows and constituting the schedules. The validity of the proposed method has been verified using a random synthetic test scenario. The simulation results demonstrate that the real-time requirements of time-critical traffic could be guaranteed with the method of the present invention. Subsequently, the scalability of the proposed method has been evaluated from the perspective of the number of flows that can be scheduled and the network size. The results indicate that the computational times for 4000 flows in the realistic industrial network topology and random network topologies (with up to 21 switches and 105 end stations) are at the sub-second level, which indicate the perfect scalability of the proposed method.
