  • Patent number: 6449157
Abstract: A retention mechanism (6, 6′) for an LGA package assembly (1, 1′) consists of a spring clip (60, 60′) and a lever (62, 62′) both attached to a heat sink (5, 5′). The spring clip has a biasing strip (612, 612′) and a pair of opposite engaging legs (610, 610′). The lever includes an arcuate section (680, 680′) positioned beneath the biasing strip, whereby the lever is rotatable from a vertical position where the arcuate section is contained in a plane parallel with the biasing strip to a horizontal position where the arcuate section is contained in a plane perpendicular to the biasing strip and engages with the biasing strip. When the lever is rotated to the horizontal position, the biasing strip is biased upwardly to cause the engaging legs to abut against a bottom surface (22) of a PCB (2), whereby the components of the LGA package assembly are mechanically and electrically connected to one another.

  • Patent number: 6128200
Abstract: A butt-joint CPU mounting structure includes a connector having two opposite faces. Each face has a receiving slot disposed therein adapted to respectively and receivingly engage with a CPU module and an edge of a main board of a computer thereby connecting the CPU module to the main board. The receiving slots are arranged in alignment with each other whereby the CPU module is substantially coplanar with the main board. A CPU holder includes two support members each defining a channel for receiving opposite side flanges of the connector. Bolts are used to secure the support members to the side flanges of the connector. The CPU module is received between the two support members whereby opposite edges of the CPU module are engaged and supported by the support members. A connection member is connected between the two support members for strengthening the mechanical structure thereof. The support members are provided with bolt holes through which bolts extend for engaging with a housing of the computer.

  • Patent number: 6059610
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a connection portion defining two channels in an insulative body thereof for respectively receiving and electrically engaging a main board and an external circuit board and a board support portion including two support bars having inner ends fixed to opposite sides of the insulative body thereby forming a U-shaped configuration for receiving the external circuit board in a space defined between the support bars. Each of the support bars has an inner surface from which two flanges extend thereby defining a groove for receiving and retaining an edge of the external circuit board. Each of the support bars defines a slot in the inner end between two side walls for receiving a sideways projection of the insulative body therein. Fasteners secure the sideways projections of the insulative body between the corresponding side walls of the support bars.
