  • Patent number: 7107021
Abstract: A mobile station supporting selective transmit diversity (STD) efficiently transmits forward channel status information to a base station in a 1×EV-DV mobile communication system. The mobile station receives signals transmitted from the base station through a plurality of transmission antennas, measures signal strengths of the received signals, compares the measured signal strengths after compensating for a transmission power difference between the transmission antennas, and selects a transmission antenna having the highest signal strength. The mobile station transmits forward channel status information indicating measured signal strength for a signal transmitted from the selected transmission antenna to the base station along with antenna selection information indicating the selected transmission antenna.

  • Patent number: 7093181
Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for generating an error detection information bit sequence for determining a length of data sequence transmitted in a communication system. The apparatus comprises a plurality of cascaded registers, the number of which is identical to the number of bits in the error detection information bit sequence, and a plurality of adders arranged on paths determined by a predetermined generator polynomial, each of the adders adding a bit sequence received through an input path to a feedback bit sequence. During reception of the control information sequence, an operator generates the feedback bit sequence by sequentially adding bits of the control information sequence to output bits of a final register and provides the generated feedback bit sequence to the adders. After completion of receiving the control information sequence, the operator sequentially adds a preset input bit to output bits of the final register and outputs the addition result as the error detection information bit sequence.

  • Publication number: 20060146876
Abstract: A reverse data rate determining method in a mobile communication system for high data rate transmission such as an HDR system, wherein an AN (Access Network) within a cell calculates a total load of a reverse link by measuring a total energy of a reverse link from ATs (Access Terminals) within the cell. The AN calculates the share of each AT in the total reverse link load. If the load share of an AT is greater than a threshold predetermined individually for the AT, the AN determines that the AT should reduce its data rate.

  • Patent number: 7065700
Abstract: There is provided an encoding apparatus and method in a CDMA communication system. To encode input information of a k-bit sequence and generate a codeword with length N>(2k?1), an encoder encodes the input information using an (r, k) simplex code and generates a sequence of code symbols of length r (r=2k?1), a repeater repeats the sequence of code symbols t times ( t = ? N r ? + 1 ) , and a puncturer performs puncturing A times (A=rt?N) on the t repeated code symbol sequences so that the resulting codes have length N. The punctured symbols are distributed uniformly across the repeated code symbol sequences or confined to the tth repeated code symbol sequence.

  • Patent number: 6934526
Abstract: Disclosed is provided a method for switching an operation mode from a non-USTS to a USTS mode in a Node B capable of communicating with a UE in both the non-USTS mode and the USTS mode. The Node B calculates a difference value between a start point of a downlink dedicated channel frame in a downlink dedicated channel transmitted to the UE in the non-USTS mode and a start point of an uplink dedicated channel frame in an uplink dedicated channel received from the UE. The Node B determines a first control value for controlling the start point of the uplink dedicated channel frame in the uplink dedicated channel by comparing the difference value with a given reference value, and also determines a second control value such that the second control value for the start point of the downlink dedicated channel frame in the downlink dedicated channel becomes a multiple of a given number of chips.
