  • Publication number: 20070046208
Abstract: The present invention provides a plasma display panel (PDP) that prevents a frit or a sealing material from entering into a display region during a sealing process of the PDP. The plasma display panel includes a pair of substrates spaced apart from each other by a predetermined gap and facing each other, and a sheet interposed between the pair of substrates. First discharge electrodes and second discharge electrodes are disposed inside the sheet. The second discharge electrodes are spaced apart from the first discharge electrodes. The sheet includes a barrier rib part and a dielectric part. The barrier rib part has a plurality of holes that defines discharge cells together with the pair of substrates. A frit or sealing material is interposed between the dielectric part and each of the pair of the substrates. The frit seals a space formed between the pair of the substrates. A groove is formed on the surface of one substrate of the pair of the substrates.

  • Publication number: 20070035475
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for improving the address discharge efficiency of a plasma display panel (PDP), the PDP has a new structure which improves light-emitting efficiency and reduces a permanent afterimage. The PDP includes first and second substrates spaced apart from each other, a barrier rib which, together with the first and second substrates partitions discharge cells which are discharge spaces, first and second electrodes extending so as to cross each other in the barrier rib, a phosphor layer formed in the discharge cells, and a discharge gas in the discharge cells.

  • Publication number: 20070035476
Abstract: A method of driving a plasma display panel (PDP) and a plasma display device driven by the method are disclosed. In one embodiment, a display image is represented by a plurality of unit frames, and each unit frame is divided into a plurality of sub-fields. Each of the sub-fields includes a reset period when all discharge cells are initialized, an address period when a discharge cell that is turned on or off is selected from all discharge cells, and a sustain period when a sustain discharge is performed for a discharge cell selected to be turned on in the address period according to gray-level weights allocated to each of the sub-fields. Furthermore, a rising ramp pulse and a falling ramp pulse are applied to the first electrode in the reset period.

  • Publication number: 20070035477
Abstract: A method of selectively performing a reset discharge in a plasma display panel (PDP) and a plasma display device driven by the method are disclosed. In one embodiment, a display image is represented by a plurality of unit frames, and each unit frame is divided into a plurality of sub-fields, and each of the sub-fields includes, in order, a reset period when all discharge cells are initialized, an address period when a discharge cell that is turned on or off is selected from all discharge cells, and a sustain period when a sustain discharge is performed for a discharge cell selected to be turned on in the address period. Furthermore, a reset discharge is performed to initialize all discharge cells in the reset period of the first sub-field of the unit frame, and to initialize only discharge cells, in which a sustain discharge has been previously performed in the sustain periods, in the reset periods of the sub-fields after the second sub-field.

  • Publication number: 20050264488
Abstract: A plasma display panel is provided having a plurality of scan electrodes and sustain electrodes formed parallel to each other in pairs on a first substrate, and a plurality of address electrodes formed on a second substrate that cross the plurality of first and second electrode pairs. A reset waveform is applied to a scan electrode during a reset period, and a scan pulse that falls from a first voltage level to a second voltage level is applied to the can electrode during an address period. A pre-scan pulse of a third voltage level, which is higher than the first voltage level, is applied to a scan electrode between the reset and address periods, and either a magnitude of the third voltage level or a width of the pre-scan pulse is adjusted according to patterns of subfield data.
