The backlight unit includes a case having an opening, at least one lamp assembly disposed on a side surface of the case and including a light source, an optical transreflective unit on the case, the optical transreflective unit transmitting a portion of first light passing through the opening and reflecting a portion of second light generated from the light source, and an optical sheet including a first diffusion unit on the optical transreflective unit.

Abstract: An LCD device includes a data line, a dummy layer, and source and drain electrodes formed on a substrate; an ohmic contact layer formed on the data line, the dummy layer, and the source and drain electrodes; a semiconductor and a gate insulating layers formed on the substrate; a plurality of contact holes formed through the ohmic contact layer, the semiconductor layer, and the gate insulating layer, wherein at least one contact hole exposes the drain electrode; a gate line formed on the gate insulating layer perpendicular to the data line; a gate electrode formed extending from the gate line, the gate electrode positioned between the source and drain electrodes; pixel regions defined by intersections of the gate and data lines; and a pixel electrode connected with the drain electrode through another contact hole, wherein the pixel electrode is formed of a same material as the gate line.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel and a method of fabricating the same capable of preventing a gravity defect of the liquid crystal display panel to improve the picture quality are disclosed. A liquid crystal display panel includes a sealant for combining a first substrate and a second substrate. One side of the sealant is located in a direction opposite to a gravity direction and has a concavo-convex shape.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has no defects caused by a rubbing process. The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer injected between the first substrate and the second substrate, and a liquid crystal alignment layer that arranges alkane chains having at least 18 carbon atoms in parallel toward the substrate. The siloxane-based liquid crystalline alignment layer produces a uniform layer that resists defects and delamination.
