Patent number: 7300493Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for controlling an air cleaning. The apparatus includes an air cleaning element, an AC high-voltage generator and a control unit. The air cleaning element generates negative ions and ozone using plasma discharge, and cleans indoor air using the negative ions and ozone. The AC high-voltage generator generates an AC high-voltage, and applies the AC high-voltage to the air cleaning element. The control unit varies at least one of the AC voltage and AC frequency applied to the air cleaning element by the AC high-voltage generator depending on a state of indoor air being cleaned using the air cleaning element. Therefore, it is possible to effectively generate negative ions while minimizing ozone generation to an acceptable level depending on a state of indoor air, thereby increasing air cleaning performance so as to sterilize and clean contaminants more efficiently.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2005Date of Patent: November 27, 2007Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventors: Ho Jung Kim, In Ho Choi, Kwan Ho Yum, Ho Seon Choi

Publication number: 20060290852Abstract: A substrate assembly for a transflective LCD device includes an array panel and an optical path modifier disposed below the array panel. The array panel includes pixel areas that are each divided into reflective and transmissive areas by a reflective film formed therein. The optical path modifier includes first lens portions that correspond to the pixel reflective areas. Each first lens portion has a refractive index that decreases with increasing radial distance from an optical axis extending vertically through the midpoint of a boundary line between the corresponding pixel reflective and transmissive areas above it. Accordingly, light passing through the first lens portions is refracted through the corresponding pixel transmissive areas above. The display device also includes a backlight assembly for providing light to the display panel. The optical path modifier increases the light transmittance of the display device and the brightness of the images that it produces.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2006Publication date: December 28, 2006Inventor: Ho Yum

Patent number: 6627060Abstract: A method for coating a phosphor on a flat display using electrophoretic deposition (EPD) and lithography is provided. In the method, an adhesive strength can be enhanced without passing through a high-temperature thermal treatment process as a post-process. Phosphor powders are coated on a substrate by a field emission display (FED) and then a ultraviolet (UV) curable layer is coated. Then, an adhesive strength of the phosphor can be greatly enhanced through UV irradiation, in comparison with a post-process such as a thermal treatment process. Also, the UV curable layer can be lithographically etched by the UV light, and thus the phosphor can be coated by a predetermined pattern, to then be applied to a next-generation display such as a FED or PDP as an optimal method for full color realization.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2000Date of Patent: September 30, 2003Assignee: Kwangju Institute of Science and TechnologyInventors: Jun Ho Yum, Yung Eun Sung
