  • Publication number: 20070048966
Abstract: Systems and methods for narrow semiconductor trench structures. In a first method embodiment, a method for forming a narrow trench comprises forming a first layer of insulating material on a substrate and creating a trench through the first layer of insulating material and into the substrate. A second insulating material is formed on the first layer and on exposed portions of the trench and the second insulating material is removed from the first layer of insulating material and the bottom of the trench. The trench is filled with an epitaxial material and the first layer of insulating material is removed. A narrow trench is formed by the removal of remaining portions of the second insulating material.

  • Publication number: 20050272612
Abstract: A well fracturing fluid is shown which includes an aqueous base fluid, a hydratable polymer, such as a guar gum, and a suitable crosslinking agent for crosslinking the hydratable polymer to form a polymer gel. The hydratable polymer has a higher molecular weight which is achieved by improvements in the processing of the guar split. The higher molecular weight polymer provides improved performance in well fracturing operations.

  • Patent number: 6906503
Abstract: A combined power supply and driver control module includes rectifier circuitry, switching circuitry, and driver circuitry for providing output power to a load. Rectified output from an input power source is used to produce a DC power. The switching circuitry receives the DC power and modulates the input current drawn from the power source. An intelligent control module includes control circuitry, such as a digital processor, for controlling the switching circuitry. Power factor is improved by modulating the input current to be closer in phase with the voltage of the power source. Also disclosed is a power factor correction circuit in which a digital processor reads waveform values from a lookup table and modulates the input current waveform based on the values. A zero crossing detector connected to the input power source may direct the digital processor when to commence reading values from the lookup table.

  • Publication number: 20050016733
Abstract: A well treatment fluid composition comprises a solvent (such as water), a polymer soluble or hydratable in the solvent, a crosslinking agent, an inorganic breaking agent, and an ester compound. Preferably, the hydratable polymer is a polysaccharide, such as galactomannan, cellulose, or derivatives thereof. The crosslinking agent is preferably a borate, titanate, or zirconium-containing compound. The inorganic breaking agent is preferably a metal-based oxidizing agent, such as an alkaline earth metal or transition metal-based oxidizing agent. The ester compound is preferably an ester of polycarboxylic acid, such as an ester of oxalate, citrate, or ethylenediamine tetraacetate. One example of a suitable ester compound is acetyl triethyl citrate.

  • Patent number: 5735349
Abstract: Compositions and methods for modifying the permeability of subterranean formations are shown. The compositions and methods generally comprise forming a dispersion of water swellable crosslinked polymer particles, adding the dispersion to a carrier fluid to form a treatment fluid, and injecting the treatment fluid into the subterranean formation. The particles are made by polymer emulsion or microemulsion processes, resulting in particles that are much smaller in size than that of the formation pore strictures. Upon injection, the particles become trapped in the formation, and upon flowback of water, the particles swell in size and adsorb onto the formation, forming a film and restricting further fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 5651138
Abstract: A data processor (21) includes an external bus interface circuit (33) responsive to two internal bus master devices (30, 34) to perform either a fixed or a variable burst access. The data processor (21) activates an external control signal to indicate whether a burst access is a fixed or a variable burst access. The data processor (21) indicates the port size of the accessed memory region by providing a port size signal to the external bus interface circuit (33). The external bus interface circuit (33) is responsive to the port size signal to break up the burst cycle into two or more burst cycles on the external bus (22, 23), if the accessed location corresponds to a memory (24) with a different port size than the internal bus (31).

  • Patent number: 5329155
Abstract: A thin film integrated circuit resistor is disclosed that is substantially linear at applied voltages greater than 100 volts. The integrated circuit resistor comprises a substrate, a plurality of resistive blocks electrically connected in series, a shield associated with each resistive block, and passivation means for isolating the substrate from the resistive blocks and the shields, and for isolating the shields from the resistive blocks except where they are electrically connected. Each shield substantially surrounds its associated resistive block with conductive material, and each shield is electrically connected to its resistive block such that each shield is at a potential of some point along the length of its associated resistive block.

  • Patent number: 5304836
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a high voltage field effect transistor (FET) constructed on the major surface of a substrate of a first conductivity type. The FET includes a drain region of a second conductivity type located in the major surface and a generally annular drift region of the second conductivity type, located in the major surface and outside of the drain region. A generally annular gate is located on the major surface and outside of the drift region, and a generally annular source region is located in the major surface and outside of the gate. A first channel stop is located in the major surface and outboard of the source region, and a second channel stop located in the major surface and beneath the gate, having at least two portions in close proximity to each other. A channel region is located in the major surface and between the two second channel stop portions. The second channel stop blocks communication between the source region and the drift region except through the channel region.
