  • Patent number: 11382632
Abstract: A vascular occlusion device for deployment within a lumen of a vessel may include a self-expanding frame configured to shift between a collapsed configuration and an expanded configuration, the self-expanding frame defining a perimeter of an interior space disposed within the self-expanding frame, and an occlusive membrane secured to the self-expanding frame. The occlusive membrane may include a suspended portion disposed within the self-expanding frame and spaced apart from the perimeter of the interior space.

Date of Patent: July 12, 2022
    Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.
Inventors: John D. Kroeger, David Robert Wulfman, Hoi Ki Ricky Chow, Adeniyi O. Aremu, Timothy A. Ostroot, Nicholas Lee Tassoni, Daniel K. Tomaschko, David Pettijohn
  • Patent number: 10835259
Abstract: An occlusive medical device system may include an elongate shaft having a distal strain relief portion and a lumen extending longitudinally through the elongate shaft, the elongate shaft including a plurality of retaining arms extending distally from the distal strain relief portion; an occlusive medical device including a proximal mounting portion fixed to an expandable occlusive element; and a release wire disposed within the lumen of the elongate shaft. The plurality of retaining arms may extend into the proximal mounting portion. The release wire may be configured to engage the plurality of retaining arms in a distal engagement position, thereby urging the plurality of retaining arms radially outward into releasable engagement with the proximal mounting portion. When the release wire is in a proximal released position, the plurality of retaining arms is deflectable radially inward to disengage from the proximal mounting portion.

  • Publication number: 20190262001
Abstract: An occlusive medical device such as a vascular implant includes a terminal portion including a first plurality of strut segments that are each joined together at a distal end thereof to form a closed end of the frame, an intermediate portion including a second plurality of strut segments, the second plurality of strut segments including a greater number of strut segments than the first plurality of strut segments, and a main portion including a third plurality of strut segments, the third plurality of strut segments including a greater number of strut segments than the second plurality of strut segments. The occlusive medical device may have an expanded configuration in which the second plurality of strut segments and the third plurality of strut segments together form a plurality of cells.
