  • Publication number: 20210131155
Abstract: A motor vehicle door includes an arrester device having a magneto-rheological fluid for holding the motor vehicle door in position, and a coil for solidifying the magneto-rheological fluid that is disposed adjacent to a liquid-tight interior space, with the interior space containing one or more components which can be moved relative to other components in the interior space. A relative movement between these components is slowed down by solidifying the magneto-rheological fluid and the slowing down of the relative movement causes the motor vehicle door to be held in position. The coil is part of a switchable hard magnet which is selected such that a sedimentation-stable, magneto-rheological fluid is obtained. The motor vehicle door may thus be reliably held in a freely selectable position.

  • Patent number: 9478727
Abstract: A dielectric elastomer has a film that contains a fluorinated silicone elastomer and has two faces. A coating of a stretchable electrode material is applied to each one of the two faces. The fluorinated silicone elastomer has a modulus of elasticity of maximally 450 kPa. The fluorinated silicone elastomer is a three-dimensionally crosslinked, fluorinated, alkyl group-containing polysiloxane in combination with a fluorinated silicone oil. Alternatively, or in addition, the fluorinated silicone elastomer is a three-dimensional wide-mesh crosslinked, fluorinated, alkyl-group containing polysiloxane whose wide mesh property has been effected by a chain length extension by addition of a chain-shaped silicone molecule containing two Si—H groups to an alkenyl group-containing polysiloxane molecule.

  • Patent number: 8123971
Abstract: The invention relates to composites made of an elastic carrier medium comprising polynorbornene (PNR) and magnetisable particles which are polarized reversibly in a magnetic field. Thus the mechanical properties, such as e.g. storage modulus G? (describes the elastic behavior or the energy storage) and loss modulus G? (describes the viscous behavior or the energy dissipation), of such elastomer composites can be increased rapidly and reversibly within wide limits (up to approx. two orders of magnitude) as a function of an external magnetic field. Wide-ranging application possibilities are produced herefrom, e.g. for adaptive damping systems, in which the damping force can be adjusted via the strength of the magnetic field.
