    Abstract: A method for operating an onboard power supply system of a motor vehicle, wherein the onboard power supply system includes at least two electric networks with different supply voltages. A network component, in particular an electrical load, is connected to each network, and a high-voltage battery is connected to the high-voltage network. A specified amount of power is supplied from the high-voltage network to a low-voltage network, wherein the supply voltage of the low-voltage network is lower than the supply voltage of the high-voltage network. Power of at least one network component connected in the low-voltage network is reduced when a power shortfall occurs in the high-voltage network while the high-voltage battery is being charged. The amount of power supplied by the high-voltage network to the network component in the low-voltage network is also reduced.
