  • Publication number: 20040030461
Abstract: A method and an arrangement are disclosed for modeling a mechatronic system in a motor vehicle in the context of an object-based ordering concept as a mapping in the unified modeling language. The elements of the CARTRONIC® with components and envelopes as their classes or objects and orders (with feedback), inquiries (with hint) and requests as their communication relationship are presented based on examples together with the essential rules from the overall control rules. A mapping requirement in the UML elements is shown for these modeling elements.

  • Patent number: 6668671
Abstract: In a control system (20) for an automatic motor vehicle transmission (10), with a number of gear selection modules (38, 40, 42), each of which is respectively designed to preset a target gear (zg) for a gear change depending on a number of operating parameters, through a suitable use of gear change prevention means, a particularly simple and transparent adaptation of the vehicle behavior to different driver requests should also be possible. To that end, the invention provides a number of analysis modules (46, 48, 50), each of which, in a respectively predeterminable operating situation, generates a suppression signal (u) for preventing a gear change, where each analysis module (46, 48, 50) is associated with a respective filter element (52, 54, 56), which enables the transmission of the respective suppression signal (u), depending on which gear selection module (38, 40, 42) has preset the target gear (zg).

  • Publication number: 20030153430
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for automatically restarting a drive unit (1) including an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The method and arrangement provides for an automatic restart when there is an unintended stalling of the drive unit (1). In the case of a stalling of the drive unit (1), a check is made as to whether the drive unit (1) was already in a steady-state condition directly before the stalling. Furthermore, a check is made as to whether the stalling of the drive unit (1) took place because of an operator input, especially at an input unit (5). In addition, a check is made as to whether a force-tight connection between the drive unit (1) and a transmission (25 or 80) is present.

  • Patent number: 6592493
Abstract: The invention is directed to a system for adjusting a transmission ratio in a transmission built into a motor vehicle. The system includes at least two transmission ratio criteria with which first transmission ratios are determined based on at least two different determining modes. The system also includes a first arrangement with the aid of which a second transmission ratio is selected in accordance with a pregiven prioritization from the determined first transmission ratios. The transmission ratio is then adjusted in dependence upon the selected second transmission ratio. In an advantageous configuration of the invention, a second arrangement is provided with which the second transmission ratio is modified in accordance with a pregiven strategy. The transmission ratio is then adjusted in dependence upon the modified second transmission ratio.

  • Patent number: 6575871
Abstract: The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for controlling an adjusting speed for a change of an actual transmission ratio into a steady-state desired transmission ratio (shifting operation) for a continuously variable transmission mounted in the drive train of a motor vehicle. In the arrangement of the invention, it is provided that the shifting operation is subdivided into individual periods (dT) of fixed duration. During each period (dT), a dynamic desired transmission ratio (udyn) is determined by multiplying the steady-state desired transmission ratio (ustat) by a gradient (udot). The change of the actual transmission ratio (u) into a dynamic desired transmission ratio (udyn) of each period (dT) takes place with a constant adjusting speed (vu).

  • Patent number: 6530292
Abstract: A method for determining a shift stage (transmission ratio) for a discretely shifting transmission of a motor vehicle wherein an output rpm of the transmission is detected and an optimal motor rpm is pregiven. It is provided that computed and/or measured input rpms (22, 23) of the transmission are detected. An rpm (25, 26) for each shift stage is fixed via a hysteresis circuit (24), a difference of the input rpm (22) of a next-higher shift stage and the rpm (26) supplies an upshift limit (10) and a sum of current input rpm (23) and the rpm (25) supplies a downshift limit (12); and, shifting into a higher shift stage takes place when the upshift limit (10) exceeds the optimal motor rpm (28) or shifting into a lower shift stage takes place when the optimal motor rpm (28) exceeds the downshift limit (12) (shifting necessity (27)).

  • Patent number: 6409627
Abstract: The invention proceeds from a control of a transmission which is adjustable continuously with respect to its transmission ratio, for a motor vehicle. The transmission together with a drive unit is mounted in the drive train of the motor vehicle and the drive unit has an adjustable drive torque. The transmission includes a drive end as well as an output end and operative means for establishing a mechanical operative connection between the drive end and the output end. Furthermore, detection means for detecting a slip quantity is provided. The slip quantity represents the slip between the operating means and the drive end and/or output end. Pregivable measures are initiated in response to a pregiven value of the slip quantity. The essence of the invention is that measures as follows are initiated: a drive of a clutch mounted in the drive train; and/or, a change of the transmission ratio; and/or, a change of the output torque of the drive unit.

  • Patent number: 6377884
Abstract: A method and a device are described for controlling a drive train of a vehicle having a gas pedal activated by a driver of the vehicle. A setpoint value is formed for a drive torque or a setpoint value for a drive power as a function of the position of a gas pedal. The drive train is then controlled in a such a way that the drive torque or the drive power is set as a function of the setpoint value formed. An interval with pre-definable interval limits is determined. The interval limits represent maximum and minimum values for the drive torque or the drive power to be set. The setpoint values are formed as a function of the determined interval. The basis for an optimal adaptation of the drive torque or the drive power to be set to the driver's preference and to the prevailing driving condition is made possible.

  • Publication number: 20020045513
Abstract: A method for operating a drivetrain (1) of a motor vehicle, in which a multi-speed gearbox (10) is connected in series to an engine (2) via a torque converter (6), is intended to make it possible, in a particularly simple manner and with small expenditure, to consider the transmission ratio (u) of the multi-speed gearbox (10) in the engine management. To that end, according to the present invention, an actual value for the transmission ratio (u) of the multi-speed gearbox (10) is ascertained on the basis of a number of operating parameters characteristic for the operating state of the engine (2) and on the basis of one measured value characteristic for rotational speed (na) of driven shaft (12) of the multi-speed gearbox (10).

  • Patent number: 6236928
Abstract: The invention proceeds from a motor vehicle having a drive train and the elements of the drive train are rotatable. The determination of a quantity, which represents the traction resistance, takes place in such a manner that an acceleration quantity is detected. This acceleration quantity represents the instantaneous acceleration of the vehicle. Furthermore, a reference quantity for the acceleration of the vehicle is detected and the quantity, which represents the traction resistance, is determined in dependence upon a comparison of the detected acceleration quantity with the determined reference quantity. The essence of the invention is that a rotation quantity is determined which represents the rotation torque of at least one element mounted in the drive train. The determination of the reference quantity takes place in accordance with the invention in dependence upon the determined rotation quantity.

  • Patent number: 6216077
Abstract: The invention proceeds from a system for considering differing amounts of components for determining at least one control quantity such as for controlling the operation of a motor vehicle. Such a system is known from the state of the art wherein a value is determined as a control quantity for the adaptive transmission control. This value characterizes the type of driver or the driving style. At least two different supply objects (for example, start-up evaluation, gradient evaluation) are provided with the aid of which, for each case, a component for determining the control quantity is determined. The determined components are then supplied to at least one collector which forms the evaluation quantity, for example, by maximum formation, weighted and/or moving-window sum formation of the individually determined components. The essence of the invention is that means are provided with which the supply of the components of the supply objects is controlled to the collector.
