  • Publication number: 20110014012
Abstract: A device for applying glue (5) onto the spine (2a) and/or lateral regions near the spine of book blocks (2) that are moved past the device in a transport mechanism. The device features a glue basin (6, 8), and at least one rotationally driven application roller (3) that dips into the glue basin (6, 8) and rolls on the book block (2) with its circumference. At least the surface of the glue basin (6, 8) that is in contact with the glue (5) consists of a flexible and/or elastic material (6, 9). The glue basin (8) preferably features an elastic insert (9) that can be removed from the glue basin (8) for cleaning purposes.

  • Publication number: 20090155022
Abstract: A perfect-binding machine (1.1, 1.2), has a main transport system (11.1, 11.2) with revolving clamps (12, 13) and a feeder (21.1, 21.2) including a transporter (22) with pushers (25), a support (26) for the upright book blocks (2) in the spine region, and lateral guides (27). The drive (28) for the transporter is controlled in accordance with the position of the clamps such that an assigned pusher (25) moves aligned in a defined position relative to the corresponding clamp immediately before and/or during the closing of this clamp (12, 13). The book blocks (2) are fed to the respective clamps in an aligned fashion such that the transfer and the alignment of the book blocks on book stop catches on the clamps can be eliminated. Book blocks (2) can be fed to the book block clamps (12, 13) in such a way that they are clamped centrally (M).

  • Publication number: 20060156974
Abstract: Apparatus for applying glue (4) onto book block spines, including a glue basin (5), at least one application roller (6) that is partially immersed in the glue basin (5) and the periphery of which rolls over the book blocks (2). In order to apply the glue exactly and with a uniform thickness when operating at high cycle capacities, the length and the thickness of the glue application are controlled with two separate roller scrapers. A first (metering) scraper (7) can be adjusted relative to the application roller (6) for metering the thickness of the glue being applied, and a second (on/off) scraper (8) can be adjusted between an application position and a zero application position. The distance of the on/off scraper (8) from the application roller (6) is greater than that of the metering roller (7) in the application position. The on/off scraper (8) has a fixed stroke such that simple actuators can be used for generating this digital control movement, e.g.
