  • Patent number: 7113492
Abstract: Providing an audio broadcast for a TDMA system. During a single time slot, an audio message is broadcast from a base art and received at a number of portable arts. An audio broadcast command is generated by designating the single time slot and then transmitted to the plurality of portable parts. An additional portable part transmits a broadcast origination signal and the audio message to the base part which transmits the audio broadcast command to the portable parts. by assigning a time slot other than the designated time slot to a portable part, the portable part does not broadcast audio messages during the designated time slot. More than three receiving time slots and more than three sending time slots are divided out for the base art that includes the designated time slot. The audio broadcast command is transmitted during at least two of the more than three sending time slots.

  • Patent number: 6928303
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for combined wireless telephony and data communication of the present invention include providing a Home RF transceiver and a WDCT transceiver in a common enclosure and synchronizing the operation of the Home RF transceiver to specific time slots in the WDCT TDM frame. More particularly, the Home RF transceiver is prevented from transmitting whenever the WDCT transceiver is receiving and is prevented from receiving whenever the WDCT transceiver is transmitting. This effectively prevents the Home RF transceiver from interfering with the WDCT transceiver and vice versa. According to a presently preferred embodiment, synchronization is keyed to the repeating WDCT TDM frame but is dynamically adjustable based on the actual use of bandwidth by the WDCT devices. Thus, when there is no telephony traffic, the Home RF transceiver has full bandwidth. For each WDCT telephone call in progress, no more than 1/12 of the Home RF transceiver bandwidth is sacrificed.

  • Patent number: 6816588
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for establishing a telephone connection between subscribers of a first telephone net (P) to subscribers of a second telephone net (T1, T2, T3). A calling private branch exchange (N1, N2) of the first telephone net communicates a subscriber's number to a central control unit (C). Said central control unit determines the private branch exchange (N1, N2) from which the second telephone net is accessed. Subsequently, the connection to the subscriber of the second telephone net is established.

  • Patent number: 6804538
Abstract: A telecommunications system includes a wireless telephone (14) and a personal computer (18) having a wireless telephone interface (24). The wireless telephone (14) is equipped with a personal computer (PC) function key (22) for activating PC controlled functionality. More particularly, when the PC function key (22) is activated, the wireless telephone (14) signals the PC it is ready to receive PC controlled functions. Thus, a menu of options may be transmitted from the PC (18) to the wireless telephone. The user clicks the desired selection to activate or interact with the corresponding program on the personal computer (18).

  • Patent number: 6690771
Abstract: A system and method for call screening in a wireless telephone system. When a call is received on an answering machine (17) associated with a base part (11), the user at a portable part (12) may select a call screen button (19). The resulting signal is received at the base part (11), which then enters a broadcast mode. The incoming answering machine message is broadcast to all handsets (12, 14, 16). In a TDMA system, an audio message is broadcast from a base part (11) during a single time slot of a time division. The user at a particular portable part may then select a pick up button to pick up the call.

  • Publication number: 20030129997
Abstract: A system and method allow a user of a parallel cordless handset to join in an ongoing communication. A conference circuit is placed on the ongoing conversation and the parallel handset is bridged into the conversation. The system and method can also bridge in data transmissions. An alert can provide notification to the handset already in the conversation, the handset attempting to join the conversation, or both. The system can be set up to allow access to the conversation upon election of either handset user or, alternatively, upon election of both handset users. Alternatively, the access can be granted without requiring election (automatically) or can be mandatory. More than one handset can be joined into the ongoing communication.

  • Publication number: 20020164974
Abstract: An incoming call (100) is received from a public switched telephone network (PSTN) (21) at a base unit (12). A caller id interface (26) extracts caller id information (27) from the incoming call. An answering machine handler (33) compares the caller id information with other caller id information stored in a directory (37). If a match is found between the caller id information and the other caller id information, then a voice announcement is communicated to one or more mobile units (14). The voice announcement is played instead of the second ring at the mobile units which have an enabled speaker (65).

  • Publication number: 20020105920
Abstract: A cordless digital telephone system which allows audio broadcasts is provided. Time division multiple access (TDMA) cordless phone systems provide a base unit which is able to provide connections for a plurality of mobile units, such as handsets. With time division, the mobile units are synchronized to different time slots. A broadcast mode is provided that causes the mobile units to be placed in a receive only mode and to synchronize to the same time slot where a broadcast message is sent.

  • Patent number: 5912897
Abstract: In a method for converting messages exhibiting different formats in communication systems, using at least one configuration table, determining conversion tables that are individual to message type are converted according to conversion specifications of these conversion tables, insofar as allocated communication system-specific information of communication systems taking place in the respective message exchange are different. In this way, a conversion or compatibility of the greatest variation in formats of messages is achieved with the lowest programming expense.

  • Patent number: 5734832
Abstract: In the method, the evaluation of messages for performance feature control is independent of the position, plurality and sequences of performance feature control elements. This is enabled in that the performance feature control elements are embedded in sequences in a message, and the performance feature control is implemented using a processing sequence that has flexibly allocatable processing routines and that takes the type of performance feature control element into consideration.
