  • Patent number: 10005046
Abstract: An apparatus and method for vaporizing and transporting an alkali metal salt is shown. The apparatus has a first conduit capable of transporting an alkali metal salt solution and a second conduit in fluid communication with the first conduit, the second conduit capable of transporting steam so that the alkali metal salt is dissipated into the steam forming a solution that can be transported, such as to a remote reaction zone. The solution can be transported via a third conduit that is capable of being heated by a heat source. The method can be used to add a promoter to a dehydrogenation catalyst during a dehydrogenation reaction.

  • Patent number: 9561501
Abstract: A metal contaminated spent catalyst or regenerated catalyst from a biomass conversion unit may be subjected to an ammonium wash in order to remove potassium. The ammonium wash may include ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate, ammonium hydroxide, ammonium acetate, ammonium phosphates, and mixtures thereof. Acidity and catalytic activity of the biomass conversion catalyst is restored by the removal of potassium contaminants.

  • Publication number: 20150209770
Abstract: A multi-functional catalyst for the conversion of biomass contains zeolite ZSM-5, zeolite USY, a metallic component, a basic material and a binder. The metallic component may be Cu, Ni, Cr, W, Mo, a metal carbide, a metal nitride, a metal sulfide or a mixture thereof. The basic material may be an alkaline-exchanged zeolite or an alkaline earth-exchanged zeolite having from about 40 to about 75% of exchanged cationic sites.

  • Publication number: 20110105316
Abstract: A bulk metal oxide catalyst can be prepared by combining metal oxide powders or oxide-producing species and reacting selected ingredients prior to their inclusion in the formulation of the catalyst. Mixed metal oxide phases can be designed and prepared for use as an ingredient for a bulk metal oxide catalyst to alter properties for catalytic performance or physical properties that would not be obtained using mixtures of singular metal oxide ingredients.
