  • Publication number: 20170046497
Abstract: One or more simulations are generated for in-home monitoring. The simulations model sensory detection of a user's physical activities using a different number and/or a different combination of sensors. Each different simulation may thus be associated with an accuracy and a cost, depending on the number and/or combination of sensors. The simulations thus present a range of sensory configurations that balance accuracy and affordability, from which an optimum sensory solution may be determined for the in-home monitoring.

  • Patent number: 8223953
Abstract: Directing customer service calls based upon one or more rules incorporating customer information, network status information, service status information, or various combinations thereof. An incoming service call, and a customer identifier for the incoming service call are received. The customer identifier is used to obtain customer information. Network status information is obtained, or service status information is obtained, or network status information and service status information are obtained. One or more rules are retrieved. The one or more retrieved rules are applied to at least one of the obtained network status information or the obtained service status information to automatically direct the incoming call to a help desk agent selected from a plurality of help desk agents.

  • Patent number: 8175223
Abstract: A problem detection and repair system receives a trouble indication indicating a problem with a network. The trouble indication may be the result of automated monitoring of the network, or a user of communication services contacting an operator of the network to report trouble. Communication services may include telephone service, television service, Internet service, and other services delivered via a network. The trouble indication may be paired with the user's account, and one or more status determinations may be made prior to handing the user to a support person. Based on the results of the status determinations, problems may be detected, and repairs automatically attempted. If needed, the user may be forwarded to a support person along with the results of the status determinations and any attempted repairs.

  • Patent number: 8176146
Abstract: Control list management may be provided. First, it may be detected that an event has occurred on a data network. Then, it may be determined, in response to the detected event, that a device on the data network needs to be provided with an access control list. Next, the access control list may be obtained from a database central to the data network. Then, the device may be provided with the obtained access control list.

  • Patent number: 8068585
Abstract: Systems and methods for checking broadband network components are provided in which an automated interactive system permits a field technician to check various conditions of a communication line or other broadband network components without the assistance of a support technician. While options to request assistance from a support technician are provided, the automated interactive system permits the field technician to perform various functions on a communication line without additional assistance, especially for routine tasks. The automated interactive system, therefore, removes efficiencies that may be associated with conventional approaches for checking broadband network components.

  • Patent number: 7929552
Abstract: Automatically allocating, modifying, and deleting IP pools for use by network equipment. The network equipment is repeatedly, periodically, or continuously monitored to detect IP pool utilization. If the monitoring indicates an increase in IP pool utilization above a first predetermined threshold, a quantity of required IP pools is forecasted. The forecasted quantity of required IP pools is removed from an inventory of available IP pools and automatically assigned to the network equipment.

  • Publication number: 20080292313
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media provide for ranging a device in a point-to-multipoint network. According to embodiments, a method for ranging a device in a point-to-multipoint network is provided. According to the method, a device identifier representing a drop in the point-to-multipoint network where the device is installed is received. The device identifier is associated with the device. The device identifier and a unique identifier associated with the device are transmitted over the point-to-multipoint network to a central unit for ranging the device in the point-to-multipoint network.

  • Publication number: 20080181099
Abstract: Using alarm data correlation to automatically analyze a network outage. Alarm data for a communications network is received. The received alarm data is correlated to determine a number of users affected by the outage. A set of rules are applied to the correlated alarm data to identify at least one root cause for the outage, and to determine whether or not a trouble ticket will be automatically generated for the outage.

  • Publication number: 20080181238
Abstract: A list of subscribers to be moved from a set of existing equipment elements to a set of new equipment elements is determined. If a network management system for managing the set of new equipment elements is capable of supporting logical provisioning of subscribers before the set of new equipment elements are placed into service, then the set of new equipment elements for the list of subscribers is preprovisioned, subscriber connections to the set of new equipment elements are installed, and the set of new equipment elements in the communications network is installed; otherwise, subscriber connections to the set of new equipment elements are installed, the set of new equipment elements is installed into the communications network, the set of new equipment elements are placed into service, and the set of new equipment elements are provisioned for the list of subscribers. Subscriber connections to the set of existing equipment elements are removed.
