    Abstract: A pump includes a driving shaft having a central axis, two retention members disposed on the driving shaft, a rotor disposed on the driving shaft between the two retention members, a bushing disposed on the driving shaft between the two retention members, a diffuser disposed about the driving shaft and adjacent the rotor such that the rotor is rotatably disposed within the diffuser, and an axial biasing member. The axial biasing member is disposed on the shaft and axially pre-loaded to compress the axial biasing member, the rotor, and the bushing between the two retention members and impart a tension in the driving shaft.
