Abstract: An outdoor grill for cooking over a bed of combustible fuel, such as charcoal, including a supporting structure having a housing mounted at the upper side thereof. The housing includes a fuel-containing base portion, and a hood which is movably mounted above the base portion so that heat and smoke from the fuel moves upwardly into the hood and can be vented therefrom. A foraminous grate or tray is slidably mounted on tracks positioned between the upper portion of the base and the lower portion of the hood for supporting food to be cooked over the fuel. The grate or tray can be reciprocated on tracks to a position facilitating smoke-free inspection of the food by pulling the food-supporting tray horizontally outwardly from the interior of the housing.
