  • Publication number: 20080047708
Abstract: Apparatus and method for plugging perforations in an oil or gas well. A bridge plug is formed in the casing below the perforations. A heating tool and a fusible alloy adjacent the heating tool is lowered into the well to a position above the bridge plug and adjacent the perforations. Heat is applied to melt the fusible alloy and pressure is applied to the molten material to force it through the perforations. The heating operation is terminated to allow the molten material to solidify and plug the perforations.

  • Publication number: 20070114026
Abstract: An apparatus and method for disassociating natural gas from a deposit of natural gas hydrates and producing natural gas. A reactor module is located downhole in a heating and injection well. Water is provided to the reactor module where it is heated and a solvent is injected into the water prior to heating. The heated water and solvent passes to the deposit of natural gas hydrates where the natural gas is disassociated under the influence of the heat from the reactor module.

  • Publication number: 20050284636
Abstract: A heating tool used for heating cement and/or a ground formation zone and melting billets in a down hole application for sealing oil and gas wells from gas migration. The heating tool has a billet loader which allows a plurality of billets to be loaded into the top of the tool and which billets then pass downward into a magazine and the lowermost heating area of the tool to rest on a billet retainer.

  • Publication number: 20050109511
Abstract: Method and apparatus for melting a material and squeezing the melted material through casing perforations into a fault within the cement or formation of an oil or gas well. A heating tool carries solid material which is melted at depth within the well and adjacent to the casing perforations. The liquefied material is forced through the perforations and into the formation or the well cement. When the material cools and solidifies, the faults become sealed.
