Abstract: According to examples, an apparatus may include a first hardware component including a first memory and a first processor. The first processor may initiate pairing between the first hardware component and a second hardware component to establish a trusted relationship between the first hardware component and a second hardware component. In response to a successful pairing between the first hardware component and the second hardware component, the processor may compare a first setting of the first hardware component with a second setting of the second hardware component.

Abstract: An implementation of a technology is described herein for facilitating the direction of push scanning from an input peripheral to one or more destinations of multiple of such possible destinations. With this technology, a user of a scanner quickly and easily performs a “push scan” to a primary target computer of one of multiple targets connected to the scanner (directly or via a network). The user selects a primary target (e.g., a computer) of one of multiple targets connected thereto (directly or via a network) and a secondary target (e.g., a file, an application, an email, a fax, etc.) associated with that primary target. Once selected, the user scans a document at the scanner. The scanner notifies the primary target of the scan request and that it is the intended destination. The primary target initiates and controls the scan. When it receives the scanned data, it directs it to the secondary target. This abstract itself is not intended to limit the scope of this patent.

Abstract: A scanning device for scanning to a host computer includes memory for storing a list of host IDs and corresponding host addresses, an image sensing module for scanning an image or document, and a display panel for displaying at least one host ID that is selectable via user input. The scanning device receives registration data from a host computer, displays a list of one or more registered host computers, receives user input identifying a host computer, scans a document or image to generate scan data, and transmits the scan data to the host computer identified by the user input.
