  • Patent number: 10708130
Abstract: Examples described herein include methods for configuring deployed devices, such as printers and scanners, across a network. Such methods include parsing a manageable features message received from a deployed electronic device according to a common management framework protocol to determine specifications for a manageable feature of the deployed electronic device, generating a features object comprising the specification for the manageable feature according to the common management framework protocol, associating the features object to the deployed electronic device, generating a user interface based on the features object, and sending configuration message to the deployed electronic device based on user input received through the user interface and the features object.

  • Publication number: 20050128526
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for managing remote transmission destinations for a fax/scan device connected—directly or indirectly—to a network. When a fax/scan device is set to a “Receive Fax to PC” or “Scan-To PC” mode, a master host identifier that uniquely identifies a master host on the network is stored at the master host and at the fax/scan device. If another network computer attempts to supercede an existing master host for the fax/scan device, it is prevented from doing so because of the presence of the master host identifier in the fax/scan device. When the “Receive Fax to PC” or “Scan-To PC” mode is cleared, the master host identifier is also cleared. Only then may a network computer configure itself as a master host for the fax/scan device.

  • Publication number: 20050024665
Abstract: A method and system is provided for dynamically controlling access to configuration attributes for a printing device. The method includes the operation of receiving a request for the printing device's configuration attributes at the printing device. The request is received from a requesting device. Another operation in determining a printing device's configuration attributes involves making a run-time determination of configuration attributes supported by the printing device. Once the configuration attributes supported by the printing device are determined, markup language code associated with these configuration attributes can be identified. Further, the present invention includes the operation of transmitting the markup language code that is associated with the configuration attributes supported by the printing device to the requesting device.
