Abstract: Some embodiments include a method for providing roaming service for a wireless device of a person that is both a prepaid subscriber of a local network and a subscriber of a home network with which the local network has a roaming agreement. Other embodiments of related systems and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a private cellular system provides private cellular service and public cellular service using licensed frequency spectrum associated with a public land mobile network (PLMN). The system is configured to have a predetermined phone number that a subscriber who is using the public cellular service via the private cellular system and who is not registered to use the private cellular service provided by the system can call in order to register to use the private cellular service provided by the system and, in response thereto, the system captures a subscriber identity number associated with the subscriber and assigns a private telephone number to the subscriber that is used in connection with providing private cellular service. Another embodiment is directed to a method of enabling a prepaid hybrid subscriber to make a call using a private cellular system while outside of a coverage area associated with the private cellular system.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a wireless communication system provides wireless cellular service to wireless devices located within at least one coverage area associated with the wireless communication system. The wireless communication system comprising a register function to maintain information about the wireless devices that are located in the at least one coverage area, and a switching function to perform switching in connection with providing wireless cellular service to the wireless devices. The wireless communication system is connected to a plurality of first home public land mobile networks. The switching function and the register function are configured to function as an extension of each of the plurality of first home public land mobile networks when providing wireless service to wireless devices that are associated with the respective first home public land mobile network.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for providing roaming service comprises receiving an identifier from a wireless device located within a coverage area of a local network, wherein the identifier is associated with the wireless device. The method further comprises determining if the wireless device is associated with a person that is both a prepaid subscriber of the local network and a subscriber of a home network with which the local network has a roaming arrangement.

Abstract: A method and mobile electronic device are provided that display, for a user, a packet switched congestion status of a wireless communication network that is useful for estimating a network quality of service. The method includes transmitting a packet switched congestion status inquiry message from the mobile electronic device to a first network element in the wireless communication network. A reply message received from the first network element in response to the packet switched congestion status inquiry message is then processed. The reply message includes transmission delay information obtained from a device transmission delay between the first network element and the mobile electronic device and a network transmission delay between the first network element and at least one packet switched support node. The packet switched congestion status is then determined based on the transmission delay information. Finally, the packet switched congestion status is displayed on the mobile electronic device.
