  • Patent number: 8418289
Abstract: The present invention is to provide an automated anti-snoring bed system, which includes a bed designed to support a user lying thereon and internally provided with a driving device, a sensing device able to send out a detection signal toward the user's chest at regular intervals of time and receive a reflected signal returning from the user in response to the detection signal, and a control device. When the sensing device determines that the user is snoring according to the reflected signal, the sensing device sends out a control command to the control device and the control device then drives the driving device to change the configuration of the bed to a mode for stopping the user from snoring. Thus, the user is prevented not only from sleep disorders, but also from sleep apnea which may otherwise jeopardize the user's sleeping quality and health.

  • Publication number: 20120165700
Abstract: An intestinal peristalsis detecting device comprises a radio frequency (RF) signal generator, an antenna, and a mixer. After the RF signal generator sends a pulse signal, the antenna receives the pulse signal and emits a pulse electromagnetic wave to an organism. Thereafter, the antenna receives a response pulse electromagnetic wave reflected from the organism to generate a response pulse signal. The mixer couples with the RF signal generator and the antenna to mix the pulse signal and the response pulse signal.

  • Publication number: 20110098597
Abstract: This invention provides microfluidic samplers for withdrawing one or more precise micro- or nano-liter volumes of a sample. The invention provides microfabricated automatic systems comprising integrated poly(dimethyl-siloxane) (PDMS) micro fluidics. The sample can be biological samples, including samples from animals or plants. The samples can be fluid or gas. The samples can comprise a biological fluid, such as blood, tears, cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) and the like, from a test subject such as a human or a mouse. The invention also provides methods for making and using the microfluidic samplers of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20060264771
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for evaluating cardiovascular functions. The apparatus combines the principles of measuring pressure and pulse signals, and monitors blood pressure, pulse wave velocity and electrocardiogram (ECG) signals simultaneously. An inflatable cuff measures blood pressure and pulse wave velocity. The apparatus also calculates systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, mean arterial pressure and other parameters related to blood pressure. The apparatus not only calculates vascular Stiffness Index (SI), vascular Reflection Index (RI) and other arterial related parameters but also Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), heartbeat, QRS interval, ST segment, and other ECG parameters.
