    Abstract: The present invention relates to halogen-free flameproof thermopolastic molding compounds which comprise an aromatic polycarbonate, a styrene-containing copolymer, a styrene-containing graft polymer, a phosphorus compound, a silicon compound, and a tetrafluoroethylene polymer. It has been found that the use of a specific type of silicon compound leads to a polymer mixture having improved stress crack resistance and impact properties. The silicon compound is represented as the following Formula (I). in which n and m have a value of from 5 to 8, and x and y have a value of from 1 to 5.

    Abstract: A device and method for adjusting the reproduction speed of a CD-ROM drive according to variations of a supply voltage. The supply voltage is compared with a predetermined reference voltage. If the supply voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the rotating speed of the spindle motor is lowered to a corresponding speed. Therefore, the error correcting capability of the DSP is maintained and the reliability of a product increases.

    Abstract: A method of driving a CD-ROM drive is provided which includes the steps of setting an initial driving speed of a disk to a predetermined N.times. speed, and measuring a length of time t required for generating a correction error signal (CES) of a digital signal processor (DSP) while playing the disk at the predetermined N.times. speed. If it is determined that the measured CES generation time t is smaller than a first reference time t.sub.1, then the disk is played at N.times. speed. If it is determined that the CES generation time t is equal to or greater than the first reference time t.sub.1, and smaller than a second reference time t.sub.2, the disk is played at (N-2).times.speed. If it is determined that the CES generation time t is equal to or greater than an (n-1)th reference time t.sub.n-1 and smaller than an nth reference time t.sub.n after the algorithm is sequentially repeated for all reference times between t.sub.1 and t.sub.n, the disk is played at 2.times. speed.
