Abstract: A terminal and a method of providing a user interface using a pen are provided. The terminal includes a pen attachment/detachment perception switch configured to detect attachment and detachment of a pen; a touch screen panel configured to detect a state of the pen; and a controller configured to activate a terminal screen when a signal corresponding to the detachment of the pen from the pen attachment/detachment perception switch has been received, and to display a menu item list, including one or more applications, on the terminal screen when a hovering event by the pen has been detected by the touch screen panel.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for releasing a lock function set in advance by detecting a user's input in an electronic device increases the security level required to access the electronic device. A method for controlling the lock function in the electronic device includes determining pattern input information. After determining the pattern input information is valid by analysis with predetermined pattern information, the lock function is released. The pattern input information includes at least one of a pattern shape, a pattern input time, a pattern input position, and a pen pressure of a pattern. The apparatus includes a touchscreen configured for detecting gestures, use of a stylus within a pre-determined threshold, and touch. The device discerns whether input has been entered in a proper hidden region of the display, to reduce unauthorized access by someone observing the input pattern being entered.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of setting received broadcasting sound source data as a functional sound of a broadcast data receiving apparatus. The method includes receiving and decoding broadcasting data; storing sound source data included in the decoded broadcasting data in a storage unit; setting the stored sound source data as a functional sound configured to be output if a function of the broadcast data receiving apparatus is executed; and outputting the functional sound if the function is executed.

The terminal includes a hard disk, a housing having an opening formed thereon, and a motor protruding out of the hard disk while being received in the opening. Even when the space for receiving the hard disk is the same, the distance between the body of the hard disk and the inner peripheral surface of the housing of the terminal is sufficient to prevent external impact from directly acting on the hard disk. In addition, even if the distance between the body of the hard disk and the inner peripheral surface of the housing of the terminal remains the same, no extra space is unnecessarily occupied inside the housing because the motor of the hard disk is received in the opening. This has the merit of achieving compactness of the terminal.

The method for recording a moving picture includes capturing moving pictures to generate at least one moving-picture file, selecting the moving-picture files included in a interval among the generated moving-picture files, combining the selected moving-picture files, and storing the combined moving-picture files.

Abstract: A high frequency equalizer using a demultiplexing technique and a semiconductor device using the same are provided. The high frequency equalizer demultiplexes input data input through an input and output terminal into a plurality of input data items, each having a time difference that is the same as the period of the input data. The equalizer restores the lost high frequency data components of the plurality of demultiplexed input data items, multiplexes the restored plurality of data items, and sequentially outputs the restored data items one by one. Therefore, using this high frequency equalizer, it is possible to allow enough time to restore the lost high frequency component even though the period of the input data is reduced by an increase of the data transmission speed. Using this high frequency equalizer, it is possible to correctly restore the lost high frequency component even at a high data transmission speed.

Abstract: Disclosed are a portable combination apparatus capable of copying image files between recording media and a method thereof. The portable combination apparatus includes a first and a second recording medium; a display for displaying a menu screen including a first menu for copying an image file stored in the first recording medium into the second recording medium; an operation unit for enabling a user to select the first menu, on the basis of the displayed menu screen; and a control unit for displaying the menu screen on the display, and if the user selects the first menu through the operation unit, copying the image file stored in the first recording medium into the second recording medium under same file name and file extension.

Abstract: A portable combination apparatus having a clock display function, and a clock display method thereof. A portable combination apparatus with a clock display function has an operation part with a plurality of operation buttons, a display part for displaying current time information, and a control part for controlling such that the current time information is displayed on the display part upon selection of a predetermined operation button among the plurality of operation buttons. Accordingly, a larger clock can be displayed through a LCD of the portable combination apparatus. Accordingly, either by carrying the portable combination apparatus, or placing the apparatus on a desk or table, the user can use the portable combination apparatus also as a clock. By forming the clock display button in a location that can be easily, recognized, remembered, found, and pressed by the user, the user can conveniently check the clock.

Abstract: A bidirectional input/output buffer operates in a current mode to increase the data transfer rate between devices connected by a bidirectional transmission line. The buffer includes an output current source for generating an output current responsive to a data output signal. The output current is combined with an output current indicative of a data input signal received from another device over a transmission line, thereby forming a mixed current signal. The data input signal is restored from the mixed signal by a restoring circuit that compares the mixed signal to a reference current that depends on the value of the data output signal. The restoring circuit includes a current mirror and a reference current source that generates a reference current in response to the data output signal.
