  • Patent number: 7275257
Abstract: In a computer system having a remote controller storing a user identification number, the remote controller generates a remote control signal for remote control of the computer system, and a remote control signal receiver receives the remote control signal from the remote controller. User identification numbers are stored in the remote controller and the remote control signal receiver, respectively. If the two user identification numbers match, a function corresponding to the remote control signal from the remote controller is performed. The function corresponding to the remote control signal corresponds to an assigned button of the remote controller in accordance with power state information of the computer system. The remote control signal can not only execute an assigned program, but also perform an automatic log on of the operating system, such as a windows operating system.

  • Patent number: 7020785
Abstract: A computer system includes a remote controller for generating a remote control signal to remotely control operations of the system, a remote control signal receiver for receiving the remote control signal generated from the remote controller, and a shell program for executing various remote control operations by the remote controller. If a security code verification operation is performed when the computer system returns from a stand-by state to a normal state by the remote controller, the shell program serves to automatically input a security code transmitted from the remote controller. This makes it possible to automatically input a security code that a user must directly input using an input device such as a keyboard, when the computer system returns to the normal state. Therefore, user convenience can be enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6802010
Abstract: A multiple-user computer system provides a respective remote control device to each one of a plurality of multiple users. Each remote control device has a plurality of button switches and a memory for storing a password datum, and transmits a remote-control wireless signal including a password datum to a wireless receiving panel of a computer in response to an input of a button switch. The wireless receiving panel has a memory for storing passwords provided to each of the multiple users. The panel receives a wireless signal from a remote controller, and compares a password of the remote controller included in the wireless signal with passwords of the multiple users stored in the memory. If passwords match, the system is controlled in response to the remote control signal. Using the remote control, a user can utilize a computer system, convert it to a sleep mode, wake it up from a sleep mode, and execute designated application programs.

  • Patent number: 6675300
Abstract: A computer system having a remote controller storing an identification number includes a remote controller generating a remote control signal for performing remote control of the computer system and a remote control signal receiver receiving a remote control signal from the remote controller. An identification number is stored in the remote control signal receiver and the remote controller, respectively. When the two identification numbers are identical to each other, remote control of the computer system in response to the remote control signal from the remote controller is then performed. According to a power state of the computer system, the remote control signal causes remote control corresponding to an appointed key of the remote controller to be performed. The identification number of the computer system is provided for a security function of the computer system, and a user can set it to be identical to that of the remote controller.
