  • Publication number: 20130170389
Abstract: Provided are a device and method for performing handover by detecting a state of another wireless network when only a wireless access interface for a current access network is activated in a mobile terminal. A handover controller performs communication between a mobile terminal performing a single radio handover and an information server managing access information for each wireless network. The handover controller obtains multi RAT access information used for accessing a network accessible at a current position of the mobile terminal. The handover controller obtains a network quality measurement result, which is measured using the multi RAT access information, from the mobile terminal, and determines a target network of the mobile terminal by using the network quality measurement result.

  • Patent number: 8391209
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method in which a mobile node having mobility performs handover in a mobile communication system, and more particularly, to a fast handover method and system using network-based localized mobility management. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, in a network access process between a mobile node and a base station, the base station sends a message allowing network access to the mobile node and a link-up message to an access router. Then, the access router sends a location registration message, which includes a mobile node identifier, a target base station identifier, a localized mobility anchor identifier, and access permission flag information, to a localized mobility anchor (LMA), and receives an acknowledgement (Ack) message including network prefix information. Accordingly, when a router advertisement (RA) message is sent to the base station, the mobile node performs duplicate address detection (DAD).

  • Publication number: 20100232306
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for supporting Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) in a wireless communication system. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a wireless communication system consists of an access router, a bridge, and a base station. The access router allocates a common network prefix to all subscriber stations served by it. When receiving IP multicast data destined for all nodes on the same link, the access router forwards the data back to the bridge. The bridge transmits IP multicast data with reference to an identification cache table (ICT) which includes MAC addresses of each subscriber stations, identifiers for point-to-point connections between the bridge and base station, IPv6 addresses of each subscriber station and valid flags for the IPv6 addresses. The base station provides point-to-point connections to both the bridge and each of subscriber stations.

  • Publication number: 20090219894
Abstract: A conventional handover method is performed in units of base stations, so that there is a problem in that a large amount of power for handover is consumed and implementation cost is high. Through dedicated protocol message exchanges between a user equipment and a network or between networks, resource availability of candidate networks is checked in advance, a handover target network is selected from among the candidate networks according to a result of checking, and the selected target network is designated as a network to which the user equipment is handed over.

Abstract: Provided is a method of packet forwarding over partial mesh network to avoid packet loss during handover. The method includes: based on first trigger information of a layer 2 obtained when a mobile node (MN) moves from a domain of a currently connected first BS to another domain, expecting a second BS of the domain to which the MN moves; if the first BS acquires second trigger information of the layer 2 indicating a disconnection between the first BS and the MN, forwarding packets destined for the MN to the second BS through the links; and if the second BS buffers the packets forwarded from the first BS and third trigger information of the layer 2 indicating a connection between the second BS and the MN, transferring the buffered packets to the MN.

  • Publication number: 20080043665
Abstract: The present invention relates to method supporting an IPv6 neighbor discovery in an IEEE 802.16 based wireless communication system. More specifically, the invention relates to an IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) neighbor discovery support method in a wireless communication system where all attached subscriber stations share a common network prefix, particularly, in an IEEE 802.16 network using Ethernet CS (convergence sublayer) network. According to the above-described method, a base station manages information on subscriber stations to which the base station provides a service on the basis of an Identification Cache Table (ICT), and performs a process of controlling unnecessary transmission of IPv6 neighbor discovery messages and an IPv6 neighbor discovery proxy function on the basis of the information on the subscriber station.
